    TheNationalSpiritualAssemblyoftheBahsoftheUnitedStatessendsyouits warmestgreetingsasyoucometogetheratthisfestivaltoshareideas,synthesizefuture collaborations,andviewanimpressiveselectionoffilmswhichmanifestarichdiversity ofcreativevisionsfromeverycontinentoftheglobe.Wearealsodelightedthatthis gathering,nowinits4thyear,haschosentohonorthelifeofWilliamSears,whousedhis outstandingtalentasastoryteller,throughavarietyofmedia,forthemostnobleof purposestoadvancethecauseofunityandbrotherhood,tobreakdown,inwordand deed,barriersbetweenthediversepeoplesoftheworld,andtodemandjusticeforthe voicelessandoppressed.

    WilliamSearsfirstachievedprofessionalsuccessasaradiosportsbroadcasterandlater starredasthehostofabelovedfamilytelevisionshowonCBS.Afterembracingthe BahFaith,hefocusedonusinghisprofessionalexperiencetosharetheFaiths essentialmessagethatTheearthisbutonecountryandmankinditscitizens.

    EmbodyingthisyearsconferencethemeLetyourvisionbeworldembracingWilliam SearsspentmuchofhislifecirclingtheglobeinvariouscapacitiesfortheFaith.He authoredmorethanadozenbooks,pennedpoetry,andinspiredcountlesssoulsby tellingstories.OnesuchbookisACryfromtheHeart,whichdescribesthe persecutionoftheBahcommunityinIranfollowingtheIranianRevolutionin1979, thatWilliamSearswrotesothattheharassmentofhisbrethreninthatcountrywould notgounseenbytheworldatlarge.Asthoseofyouattendingthisfilmfestivalwell know,tellingastorycanbeapowerfulact. Whenlookingattheimmensechallengesfacingourplanetatthistime,onemaybecome disillusionedordiscouragedandfeelasthoughourindividualeffortscannotaffect change.This,ofcourse,isnottrue.Weareallwitnessestoandparticipantsinthisageof transitionwhentheworldistruly,inexorably,meldingintoonecommunity.Humanity needsartists,writersandfilmmakers,employingeveryformoftechnology,tofollowin thefootstepsofWilliamSearsandtoeachcontributeasharetotheeducationand upliftmentofmankind,thatasaresultofourendeavors,contentionandconflictamidst peoples,kindreds,nationsandgovernmentsmaydisappear,thatallthedwellersonearthmay becomeonepeopleandrace,thattheworldmaybecomeevenasonehome.
