CODAM version 4.1.2.

x New features
1. MEMOBOX can be operated in 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems:
There is a new field in the job processing-general dialogue:

Enter the required nominal frequency and CODAM will download the appropriate firmware into MEMOBOX. The selected frequency will be used for all consecutive measurements as long as the setting is not changed. Important: This new feature is also available for existing MEMOBOX instruments which were delivered earlier. CODAM checks the nominal frequency the MEMOBOX is calibrated for and adapts the calibration data automatically for the new power frequency best accuracy for phase angle power values, PF etc. is thus ensured.

Now there are two limit value files: EN50160-50Hz and EN50160-60Hz. By the way: we changed the default limits for the voltage events to +6%/-10% for 95% of the time and to +6%/-15% for 100% of the time for customer convenience. This regulation is valid till 2008 and is very often used by the utilities.

User benefit: The MEMOBOX can be used everywhere now. Manufacturers of machinery and assets situated in Europe could not use their MEMOBOX when operating on montage in overseas. Each MEMOBOX is suitable for all mains systems around the world. Updating: It is no more necessary to send the MEMOBOX in to LNO, the user himself can switch between 50 and 60 Hz. This is also an advantage for our service partners in overseas. LEM benefit: The manufacturing department does not have to watch carefully for destination country. The MEMOBOX can be shipped to any country with 50 Hz or 60 Hz power systems. Limit modification: the customer can use the settings immediately without any changes.

2. Enhanced voltage range for Flicker measurements

LEM NORMA expanded the voltage range for Flicker measurements to a range of 25% 130% of voltage range and Un has to be at least 50% of voltage range. Example: If we select a range of 230 V and a nominal voltage of Un=115 V Flicker can be measured in a range of 57.5 V up to 299 V. 25% 130% of voltage range 230 V-P-N: 57.5 V 299 V Thus measurements in special power supply configurations with 115 V and 120 V can be handled

3. Flicker norm IEC 61000-4-15:2003 is implemented for 50 Hz and 60 Hz systems.

There are additional items in this norm for 50 Hz systems and a new Flicker specification for 120V / 60 Hz system. The MEMOBOX has passed the herein specified performance tests successfully. Reference: FLUKE 61000 Power Standard

4. Voltage and current unbalance for A-function Increasing inquires from several customers led us to an implementation of 2 different current unbalance and one new voltage unbalance algorithms:

Voltage unbalance: CODAM is using different methods for delta- and Y-connection. For delta (for P-P voltage ranges) the calculation of the unbalance is based on the voltages between the lines of the 3-phase system (e.g. U1 is the voltage between L1 and L2). For Y (P-N voltage ranges) are the phase voltages and their phase shift is used (e.g. U1 is the voltage between L1 and neutral). In the case of a negative system (two phases interchanged) is it automatically corrected to a positive one.

Parameters in the level-time diagram: Unbalance U: is the classical method based on the symmetrical components, no changes have been done on this method Unbalance2 U: is a new implementation of a more simple method, which is used often: Calculate the mean voltage: Umean = (U1 + U2 + U3) / 3 Calculate the absolute deviations from the mean value: Abs(U1-Umean), Abs(U2-Umean), Abs(U3-Umean) Take the maximum and calculate the unbalance: Unbalance2 U = MAX ( Abs(Ux-Umean)) / Umean * 100 The unbalance is the maximum deviation of a phase voltage in relation to the average value of all phase voltages. Current unbalance: Parameters in the level-time diagram: Unbalance I: The unbalance of the phase currents based on the symmetrical components Unbalance2 I: The unbalance of the phase currents based on the maximum deviation from the average of all currents Calculate the mean value of the currents: Imean = (I1 + I2 + I3) / 3 Calculate the absolute deviations from the mean value: Abs(I1-Imean), Abs(I2-Imean), Abs(I3-Imean) Take the maximum and calculate the unbalance: Unbalance2 I = MAX ( Abs(Ix-Imean)) / Imean * 100

5. Change voltage transformer ratio

In the new dialogue it is possible to change the Nominal voltage too. This option is available before we open the MEMOBOX measurement file only! Benefit: Correction of measurement files with incorrect settings.

6. Optimised export for Venezuela customers:

LEM Norma GmbH/OMe@lem.com June 2005

Similar to the VSE-report for Switzerland this report file is customised export feature which fulfils precisely the requirement of the utilities in Venezuela; it can also be used in other Spanish speaking countries. It was required for participating in a large tender.
