Aegeus committed suicide? THE

Aegeus
At the cliffs of Cape Sounion (South of Athens) yesterday, Aegeus father of Theseus, died. Reports say that he fell to his death in the ocean of disbelief that his son, Theseus had not changed his sails from black to white. Why was this? Investigators are now releasing information that Theseus had to change his sails from black to white to inform his father that he wasnt a threat coming back. But, where was he coming back from? According to investigators Theseus had to go to Crete to defeat the Great Minotaur (half man & half bull) to save the Athenians. The plan was simple land at the port of Knossos, sleep in the prison cells and at day break strike. As the Athenians were escorted by Minos soldiers, they were led up towards the palace but something caught Theseus eyes. It was a Cretan named Ariadne, the beautiful daughter of the Cretan King. As night fell on them the Athenians slept in prison cells. Ariadne was able to drug the soldiers who were guarding Theseus and gave him two swords, one long and one short. As day crept up on Theseus it was time for him to strike. With a thread of string he crept silently through the labyrinth maze where the Minotaur was roaming. After a while he stumbled upon a pile of bones: some animal and some human. Theseus could hear feint footsteps approaching him so he got ready for a big attack. The Minotaur was like a giant man, with a great bulls head, lions teeth and an awful wild beasts roar. Theseus then striked its legs with his small sword then drove his long sword into its heart. After his victory he followed his thread of string back to the entrance where Ariadne was waiting anxiously. The Cretans were amazed so they freed the Athenians and granted them free passage home. The voyage back to Athens was long and stormy and as a result Ariadne died in the hands of Theseus. Theseus had then forgot his promise to his father. The sails were still black and not changed to white. Aegeus realised this and thought this was an enemy so he committed suicide thinking he was going to die anyway. Aaron Teo
