Installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration
This chapter provides information for installing Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration. It contains the following topics:

Preparing the Stage Area Deploying Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration

Preparing the Stage Area

To accelerate the installation process, Oracle Corporation recommends that you perform the installation from a location in which the DVD-ROMs are imaged. This is called a stage area. There are two methods to create a stage area:

Mount and install the DVD-ROM from a known stage area. Copy the DVD-ROM contents to a local file system, and start the installation from that directory.

Mounting and Installing from a Known Stage Area Server

Oracle provides a stage area server for Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration for each platform for Oracle internal use. Use the following command syntax to mount and install from the Oracle stage area:
# mkdir /stage # mount cclibrary:/vol/LTrepos/CCrepos/platform/EBizCC/11510CC-Final /stage

In the preceding syntax, replace <platform> with the operating system used with the system on which you are installing, using the following syntax:

AIX: aix hp-ux: hpux Linux: linux Solaris: solaris

Mounting and Installing from a Local File System Stage Area

This section describes how to create a stage area on your local file system. Table 31 provides path directions for staging each of the DVD-ROMs on your local file system. In the following table, n represents the disk number of each type of disk label.
Installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration 3-1

Copy DVD-ROMs Labeled... Start Here CD - Disk 1 APPL_TOP - Disk n RDBMS - Disk n Databases - Disk n Tools - Disk n

The stage area is created on one server, and can be shared on another server by mounting the /stage file system to the other servers. It is recommended that you create the stage area only once. The following is an example of the command syntax used to create a stage path:
$ mkdir /stage/startCD $ cd /stage/startCD $ cp -r * /mountpoint

In the preceding syntax example, <mountpoint> is the mount point for the DVD-ROMs on your system.

Creating a Two-Node Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration

In a two-node installation, install both the applications tier and the database tier servers across two nodes. Use the following to create an installation on a two-node system:
1. 2. 3.

Log out of the system, and then log back in as the root user. Verify that you set the EBSO_HOME environment variable. To install the database tier on the database tier system, use the following commands:
# cd /admin/ebso/admin # ./wizard.sh mode=install dest_mntpt=<tabcdi> tier=oracle mnode=<dbhost>,<cphost>,<admhost>,<webhost>,<frmhost>

For example, if the database tier host name is node1, and the middle-tier host name is node2, then the command would be:
# ./wizard.sh mode=install dest_mntpt=tabcdi tier=oracle mnode=node1,node2,node2,node2,node2

To install Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration with a vision database, specify "dbtype=vision" in the wizard.sh script. For example:
# ./wizard.sh mode=install dest_mntpt=tabcdi tier=oracle mnode=node1,node2,node2,node2,node2 dbtype=vision 4. 5.

To check the status of the installation, review the log files in the directory $EBSO_ HOME/log. To install the applications tier on the applications tier system, use the following commands:
# cd /admin/ebso/admin # ./wizard.sh mode=install dest_mntpt=<tabcdi> tier=apps mnode=<dbhost>,<cphost>,<admhost>,<webhost>,<frmhost>

For example, if the database tier host name is node1, and the middle-tier host name is node2, then the command would be:
# ./wizard.sh mode=install dest_mntpt=tabcdi tier=apps mnode=node1,node2,node2,node2,node2

If the database-tier is configured with the "dbtype=vision" option, then you must specify this option while configuring the middle-tier.
6.

To check the status of the installation, review the log files in the $EBSO_HOME/log directory.

You can install Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration components across more than two nodes to create a multi-node setup. To perform such a setup, specify the appropriate host name in the wizard.sh script using the option for mnode.

Post Installation Task for Password Management Utility

You must complete the following post-installation tasks for the password management utility.

As the apps user, run the passwd_mod.sh script located in the $APPL_ TOP/../BOL/scripts directory.

Installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration 3-3

Deploying Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration

As the oracle user, run the passwd_mod_sys.sh script located in the $ORACLE_HOME/appsutil/BOL/scripts directory. This script changes the sys and ssosdk passwords.

Configuring an Oracle E-Business Suite Middle-Tier with a Virtual URL

Use the following instructions to configure Personnel Home Page (PHP) to use a virtual server URL using a load balancer (like BIG-IP) after the initial installation:
1. 2.

Log in as the apps user. Run the pre-cloning step for the instance.
$ cd /admin/ebso/admin $ ./pre_crenv.sh mntpt=<mount point>

where <mount point> is the top-level directory, typically six-letter (like tabcdi) in an On Demand environment.
3.

Log in as the apps user and reconfigure the instance to use the virtual server URL in the load balancer using the following command:
$ cd /admin/ebso/admin $ ./wizard.sh mode=preconfig src_mntpt=<source mount point> dest_mntpt=<dest mount point> tier=apps bigd=true,<URL>

where you specify the same value for src_mntpt and dest_mntpt, and an example of a valid URL is http://testebiz.abcd.com.
Note: You will be prompted to enter the apps password several times during the reconfiguration process.
4.

Review the log files for any errors.

Adding a New Oracle E-Business Suite Middle-Tier

Use the following instructions to add a new middle-tier to an existing Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration instance. The following are prerequisites for adding a new middle-tier to an existing Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration instance:

You have an existing installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration If you plan to add a Web tier, you must configure the existing middle-tier to use the Virtual URL as described in the preceding section "Configuring an Oracle E-Business Suite Middle-Tier with a Virtual URL"

The following contains instructions on how to add a new middle-tier using shared APPL_TOP configuration:
1.

Run the pre-cloning step on the first (or one of the existing) middle-tier using the following commands:
a. b.

Log in as the apps user. Run the pre-cloning step for the instance.
$ cd /admin/ebso/admin $ ./pre_crenv.sh mntpt=<Mount Point>

3-4 Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Installation Guide

Deploying Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration

2.

Create users, groups, and mount points on the new middle-tier node.
a.

On the new middle-tier node, ensure that you create application and oracle users that correspond to those on the source node. For example, use the following command to ass users and groups:
# groupadd -g aa<mntpt># useradd -d <home directory> -g <group> \ -p <password> -s <shell> ap<mntpt>

b. 3.

Copy the user profile (.profile) from the source middle-tier and put it in the <home directory>.

Copy the iAS ORACLE_HOME under the /<mount point>/product directory from the existing middle-tier to the new middle-tier. For example, you have a two-tier deployment with node 1 running a database and node 2 running a middle-tier, and you want to add a new middle-tier to node 3. Make sure the same /<mount_point>/applmgr directory on an existing middle-tier (node 2) is mounted read-write on the new middle-tier (node 3) to set up the new middle-tier in a shared APPL_TOP mode. Modify the sqlnet.ora file in the ORACLE_HOME database (database-tier) to include the host name of the new middle-tier node in the tcp.invited_nodes file and restart the Oracle Net listener. For example, if node3 is your new middle-tier and node2 is your source middle-tier node, and node1 is your database-tier node, then modify sqlnet.ora to add node3 as follows:
tcp.invited_nodes=(node1.<domain_name>,node2.<domai_name>,node3.<domain_name>) $ lsnrctl stop <listener name> $ lsnrctl start <listener name>

4.

5.

6.

Install Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Tool and Utilities under the /admin/ebso directory on a new middle-tier (node 3), if it does not exists. Use the following commands:
a. b. c.

Login as the root user on the new middle-tier (node 3). Mount the Oracle E-Business Suite stage area on to this system, under the /stage directory: Run the following commands to install Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Tools and Utilities:
# mkdir /admin/ebso # cd /stage/StartCD/Disk1/ebso/install #./setup.sh

7.

The new middle-tier could be configured to run one or more of the following:

Concurrent Processing Administration Web Forms Log in as the apps user on the new middle-tier node. Determine which services you want to configure on the new middle-tier, then use the following instructions to configure them:

a. b.

Administration of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration
This chapter describes installation of existing Oracle Applications systems, and includes all the underlying scripts that are involved. It consists of the following topics:

Introduction to On Demand Utilities Using the Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Utility Pack Installation of an Environment from the Stage Location Configuring a New Environment

Introduction to On Demand Utilities

This section introduces the features supported by Oracle E-Business Suite On Demand utilities. The Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration On Demand utilities enable the following features on an Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration: Administration Features Installing an environment from a shiphome

Cloning from a source environment to a target environment

Applications Support Features Supporting BigIP Customizing applications

Using the Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Utility Pack

The Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Utility Pack contains the wizard.sh script which is the user interface for performing all administrative tasks. The following is the complete command summary for the wizard.sh script:
wizard.sh mode=install/config/valid dest_mntpt=Destination mntpt {src_host=Source host src_mntpt=Source mntpt} - For mode install, config, or valid {apps_serv_host=Apps db hostname apps_mntpt=Apps mount point} [ dbype=prod/vision/bfal ] - For mode=install, with either Oracle or Application Tier [ bigd=true|false,Url ]

Administration of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration 4-1

Installation of an Environment from the Stage Location

[ porttype=mntpt for new port range] [ dbtype=vision/prod/bfa]

In the preceding syntax, text in brackets [ ] is optional, and text in braces { } is mandatory. Note the following syntax terminology:

bigd: BigIP details. By default, the value is false. If you specify true, then you need to provide the BigIP URL. The URL should include the protocol. For example, bigd=true, http://machine. mnode: Multinode. For multinode support, specify all hostnames. mode: Type of operation or task. porttype: Allows users to specify a different port range from the one associated with the destination mount point. Only the port range is affected. Directory structures remain unchanged. Typically the first letter of the value of porttype is used to determine the new port range. An exception is when the second to the last character in the value is a number. In this case, the number will replace the second digit of the new port range. For example, if porttype=igoldi, the first letter (i) will determine the new port range, as the second to last character (d) is not a number. In this example, the new port range is 106. On the other hand, if porttype=igold5i, the second to last character (5) will replace the second digit (0) of the new port range (106). Therefore the new port range is 156. A number in any other position of the porttype value has no effect. dbtype: This argument is only for mode=install. Specify the type of database to install. Valid values are bfa (Business Flow Accelerator), prod (production), and vision (Vision Demonstration).

In addition, the syntax contains the following variables:

Admin host: Administration-tier host Apps db hostname: Applications database host name Apps mount point: Applications mount point CM host: Concurrent Manager host DB host: Database host Forms host: Forms-tier host Destination mntpt: Destination mount point Source mntpt: Source mount point Source host: Source host Url: URL of tier Web host: Web-tier host

To prevent accidental termination because running the wizard.sh script might take a long time, Oracle recommends running the wizard.sh script in the background with the UNIX nohup command as follows:
$ nohup wizard.sh arguments &

Environment Type Limitations and Considerations Discoverer Startup Fails on Solaris ocheck Error on AIX ocheck Fails When Using NFS on Linux Unable to Use the Applications When Logged in as BOL-SETUP Unable to Open BOL-Forms Data Segment Size on AIX Unable to Launch gatekeeper.properties Window on AIX Using startgkconfig.sh Discoverer OAD Does Not Start on Solaris

Environment Type Limitations and Considerations

To avoid conflicts, you cannot have two environments of the same environment type on one system.
See Also: For additional known issues that occur in Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Release 11i (11.5.10) and rapid install, refer to Oracle Applications Installation Release Notes Release 11.5.10, and to Oracle Applications Installation Update Notes Release 11.5.10 for your platform.

Discoverer Startup Fails on Solaris

When running the addischtl.sh start script, you see the following message:
Registering Discoverer Preference Repository oadutil.reg:Failed to bind to OAD

Workaround Set the TMPDIR environment variable to the Oracle home directory of the release 8.0.6 visibroker directory. The following is an example of commands required to make this change:
% TMPDIR=/mount_point/product/8.0.6/vbroker

Known Issues with Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration 6-1

ocheck Error on AIX

% export TMPDIR

ocheck Error on AIX

When running the ocheck utility, the script returns the following error:
./ocheck[504]: psrinfo: not found ./ocheck [504]: sysdef: not found Total swap space expected: >=2146435072 MB failed

Workaround You can ignore this error.

ocheck Fails When Using NFS on Linux

If you use NFS and do not have VERITAS installed on the system, then the ocheck utility fails with the following errors:
$ cd /admin/ebso/ocheck/ ./ocheck -product ebiz -preinstall -prettyprint Package "VRTSvxvm-3.2" (not installed) == VRTSvxvm-3.2 fail

Workaround Modify the /admin/ebso/ocheck/ocheck.conf file to remove the VERITAS package from the prerequisite packages. Change the line to the following:
OCC_PACKAGES2_LINUX="XFree86-Xvfb-4.1.0-46"

Unable to Use the Applications When Logged in as BOL-SETUP

If you experience problems, log into Oracle Applications as the BOL-SETUP user, then perform the following workaround. Workaround The following procedure is a workaround for this issue:
1.

Log in to the appropriate On Demand URL. The following is an example of the URL:
http://auohsspaw01.oracleoutsourcing.com:10515/dev60cgi/f60cgi

2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7.

Log in as sysadmin/sysadmin. Select the Application Developer responsibility. Click Menu from the Applications menu. Change Menu Type to standard in the XBO_APPLICATIONS4.0 menu, and save it. This will recompile the menus in the database. Stop and restart the HTTP server. Log in as the BOL-SETUP user to access the application.

6-2 Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration Installation Guide

Unable to Launch gatekeeper.properties Window on AIX Using startgkconfig.sh

Unable to Open BOL-Forms

You get the following alert while accessing BOL-Forms through the BOL-SETUP user using the Application Administration responsibility:
Function not available for this responsibility. Change responsibility or contact your system administrator

Workaround Apply the workaround in Bug number 4034038:

1.

Change directory to the location of the formservlet.ini file:

$ cd <iAS-10222 OH>/Apache/Jserv/etc

2.

Back up the formservlet.ini file:

$ cp -p formservlet.ini formservlet.ini.pre_4034038

3.

Add the following line to the end of the formservlet.ini file:

XBOL_TOP=/<Your Apps-11.5.10 Mount-Point>/applmgr/CUSTOM/xbol/11.5.0

4.

Bounce the Apache-Server, using the following:

$ cd $COMMON_TOP/admin/scripts/<Your Apps-11.5.10 Context-Name> $ adapcctl.sh stop $ adapcctl.sh start

Data Segment Size on AIX

You must have at least 1 GB of data segment size available for relinking MSC, MSO, and MSR product executables. To check the current size, run the following command:
$ dump -X64 -o /usr/ccs/bin/bind64

If the last line returns 0x00000000 for maxDATA, the current maximum size is 256 MB (the default for AIX 32-bit applications). Workaround To set the data segment size to 1 GB, set the LDR_CNTRL variable to:
LDR_CNTRL_MAXDATA=0x40000000

Unable to Launch gatekeeper.properties Window on AIX Using startgkconfig.sh

If you are unable to launch the gatekeeper.properties window using the startgkconfig.sh script, use the following workaround. Workaround The following is the workaround:
1.

Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/discwb4/discwb.sh script. Change VBROKER_JAVAVM=<8i ORACLE_HOME>/jre1162o/bin/jre to:

VBROKER_JAVAVM=<8i ORCLE_HOME>/jre1183/bin/jre

Known Issues with Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration 6-3

Discoverer OAD Does Not Start on Solaris

2.

Edit the $ORACLE_HOME/jre1183/bin/jre file. Change the line export CLASSPATH=$JAVA_HOME/lib/rt.jar:$JAVA_HOME/lib/i18n.jar:$JAVA _HOME/lib/math.jar to:
export CLASSPATH=$JAVA_HOME/lib/rt.jar:$JAVA_HOME/lib/i18n.jar:$JAVA_HOME/lib/math.jar :$CLASSPATH

3.

Run the startgkconfig.sh script.

Discoverer OAD Does Not Start on Solaris

On Solaris, Discoverer OAD does not start when the VBROKER_ADM and TMPDIR environment variables point to directories of different devices. The oad.log file would contain the OAD: Fatal Error [Cross-device link] error message while registering with OAD. To workaround, set the TMPDIR environment variable to a directory on the same device as the one pointed by VBROKER_ADM before starting OAD. More details can be found in bug number 4077027.

Directory /igold Must Exist Before Installation on Solaris

On Solaris, before starting the installation of Oracle E-Business Suite Certified Configuration, create a soft link /igold pointing to your installation mount point. For example, /igold -> /tabci. (This workaround is not needed if an igold instance is already present on the same system.)
