I. Course Description: This course examines the purpose and responsibilities of the training and development function within organizations. It provides students with perspectives on the significance of training and development for improved productivity, efficiency and overall organizational performance. Students will learn and practice steps involved in designing, delivering and evaluating training. II. Course Objectives The course is about the training and employee development and human performance improvement in organizations. The field of training and development is changing. There is a need for trainers to reorient their thinking from the comfort and structure of the classroom to the more ambiguous consulting area. The gap is actually not nearly as wide as some might think. Trainers have considerable expertise in job and task analysis, learning specialists, facilitators, communication experts, and professionals with a broad perspective of the human dimensions of human performance in organizations.
III. Learning Outcomes Upon successful completion of this course the students will have reliably demonstrated the ability to: o Analyze the position of a training and development function within an organization. o Discuss the concepts of the learning organization and organizational learning. o Apply the training and development process to an organizational performance issue. o Design a training or development program to address performance concerns. o Evaluate alternative approaches to staff development using cost benefit and cost effectiveness analyses techniques. Pls Note: Guidelines on Group Presentation on the given Topic: Topics will be allotted to the Groups (3 students in a Group) in the 2nd Week of the Semester. Each group will have to present on the given topics as and when instructed by the subject expert. Marks will be allocated based on the Content Quality, Presentation Quality and Group Participation. Guidelines on MCQ QUIZ: MCQ Quiz will be conducted twice in the Semester in the 10 th Week and 13th Week - based on the syllabus completed till that period of time. Student have to solve the MCQs individually during the quiz. Guideline on CLASS PARTICIPATION Student will be given marks for each and every right answer given in the class interaction. Students will benefit with the same when the average marks of the subject will be calculated.
