The 2009 annual report mentioned a severe reduction in volume for the three main sectors of Canada Posts business due to the economic slowdown which accelerated an already dismal forecast.

Over the next few years, Canada Post will need fewer employees in order to function, but the number will diminish naturally as employees retire or decide to leave voluntarily.
