1. Overview

The excitation device of India Tengda (2330MW) Coal-fired Power Plant is a kind of microcomputer excitation regulation device (inclusive of a field regulator screen, a rectifier cabinet and a field suppression panel) supplied in complete sets by a generator plant. A generator outputs voltage via an excitation transformer at its terminal, and the voltage is rectified by a static bridge-type controlled silicon rectifier and finally supplied for excitation, which is the so-called self-shunt excitation.

2. Test content and purpose Through a full-group dynamic starting test of the excitation system, to inspect the cooperation of diverse parts of the excitation system and the full-group property and to check whether or not the excitation system is able to meet the machine sets actual operation requirement under diversifying operating conditions and whether or not the specification is satisfied, in order to make the machine set able to combined to the grid and to operate normally.

remote/local option switch on the field suppression panel and the local mode is chosen, and the magnetic field breaker is switched on, the switching-on indicator lamp for the magnetic field breaker on the field suppression panel should be on. Select the Current Regulate mode on the excitation regulation cabinet to reach electromagnetism excitation under the FCR control manner, and increase the voltage manually to 20% of the rated voltage. At this time, check the amplitude, phase and phase sequence of the PT secondary loop to make sure they are correct. After that, raise the voltage manually to the rated value and switch on the No.1 and No.2 fan start switches on the rectifier cubice to start the fan. When the voltage gets steady, measure the no-load setting range under the FCR control manner, and the result should comply with the set parameters. Finally, bring down the excitation manually to zero. 9.1.3 Put the generators electromagnetism excitation power supplies (including the 380V AC main power supply and the 220V DC operational power supply) into service. And then choose the Voltage Regulate for AVR and select Local Operation button on the excitation regulation screen to make the generator undertake electromagnetism excitation under the control mode of AVR. Take magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and generator terminal voltage curve in the generators electromagnetism excitation course. Make sure the voltage overshoot of the generators stator should be smaller than 5% and record the overshoot time. After the electromagnetism excitation is confirmed to be successful, regulate the

12

India Tengda 2

magneto-increasing/magneto-decreasing switch and observe carefully to see whether or not the contents displayed on the automatic field regulator such as the generators excitation current, excitation voltage and stator voltage are normal. 9.1.4 Measure the no-load setting range under the control manner of AVR, and the result should meet the set parameter. 9.1.5 Decrease the generators voltage to the lowest level. After the contravariant field suppression, put down the magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and generator terminal voltage curve in the field suppression, measure the de-excitation time-constant and check the operating status of the field suppression device. 9.1.6 After the electromagnetism excitation reaches to the rated voltage (select the Remote Operate button under the control manner of AVR and operate on the electric control DCS for electromagnetism excitation), conduct the contravariant field suppression manually. Bring down the generators rotary speed continuously to V/Hz limiter action. The actually measured frequency at this time should be 45.5Hz or so. Resume the generators rotating speed to the rated value and lift the generators voltage to V/Hz limiter action. And the generators voltage at this time should be 110% or so. 9.2 The property test of the field regulator on the condition of the generators rated rotating speed 9.2.1 Test on the mutual switching of the regulators No.1 online passage and No.2 online passage Under the control manner of AVR, the electromagnetism excitation advances till the generators voltage reaches the rated value. At this time, the automatic voltage regulator No.1 passage is the online passage and the automatic voltage regulator No.2 passage is a hot standby passage. The mutual switching between these two passages should not result in any change of the generators voltage. When the online passage regulator is removed a failure of the online passage regulator is simulated, the

14

India Tengda 2

online passage will send out a failure signal and the hot standby passage will come into service automatically. At this time, the hot standby passage will execute the control signal and the online passage control signal is locked. Take the generators magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and terminal voltage curve. The generators voltage during this process should have no change. If any abnormal situation emerges from the switching test, conduct the contravariant field suppression and switch off the magnetic blow-out switch manually. Test should be conducted again when the abnormal situation disappear in the inspection. 9.2.2 Test on the mutual switching of the regulators AVR passage and FCR passage Conduct electromagnetism excitation and lift the generators voltage to the rated value under the control manner of AVR. Switch AVR to FCR manually and take the generators magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and terminal voltage curve. No any voltage change of the generator should occur in the switching. Switch FCR to AVR when the present control manner is FCR and take the generators magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and terminal voltage curve. No any voltage change of the generator should occur in the switching. 9.2.3 Test on the overshoot and regulation time in a 10% step response Conduct electromagnetism excitation and lift the generators voltage to the rated value under the control manner of AVR. In the system, the step response parameters are selected and the step response test is conducted, ranging from 5% to 10% in turn. Take the generators magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and terminal voltage curve. Pay attention to measure the overshoot and regulation

When Magneto-increasing and Magneto-decreasing switches are used to increase or decrease the excitation current of the generator, the voltage changes of the generator should be stable. When the No.1 passage is switched into the No.2 passage of the automatic voltage regulator, the generator s voltage should be stable and see no fluctuation. Remove the No.1 passage and make the No.2 passage operate separately. When Magneto-increasing and Magneto-decreasing

switches are used to increase or decrease the excitation current of the generator, the voltage changes of the generator should be stable. 9.2.4 Test on the power source of the regulator: switch off the DC mains switch of the regulator (the +24V power sources air switches B5.1 and B5.2) and inspect the operating status of the regulator. 9.2.5 PT wire break test: under the control manner of AVR, disconnect the switches at the secondary sides of the two PT loops to simulate the PT wire break, and the regulator should be able to switch automatically in this situation. Take the generator s magnetic field current and the magnetic field voltage. Observe the generator s magnetic field current

Take the magnetic field voltage curve, magnetic field current curve and generator terminal voltage curve in the generators field suppression course. 9.6 The load throw-off test of the generator After being combined into the grid, the generator should take a load throw-off test in cooperation with the turbine.
