10. Instructional Venue Faculty of Engineering, Hua Mak Campus Bangkok Aviation Center Co., Ltd. Thai Flight Training Academy, Thai Airways International Public Company Limited 11. External Contexts or Development Affecting Program Planning 11.1. Economic Context or Development The worlds economy is gradually improving with the bailing out of many big businesses in the world. This gradual economic improvement has increased the needs to travel domestically and internationally. The demands for international flights have also increased in the last decade not only for business purposes but for leisure. Airlines have drawn up strategic plans to increase revenue and number of passengers by improving airline services as well as airline capacity, innovations and technology to be highly competitive. In addition to transporting humans, air transportation has been one of the fastest modes of transportation of commercial products globally and across continents. Thus, the worlds economy is presently driven and dependent on how fast products and humans could be transported and could reach their destinations in time. 11.2. Social and Cultural Context or Development Air transportation has made the world smaller and has removed cultural and social barriers and boundaries. Human migration and movement from one place to another have opened connections and increased human interactions from different social backgrounds and cultures. Cultures are easily transferred from one continent to another continent because of the increasing human migration through air travels. People from different nations can be brought together because of air transportation which has become more affordable to even ordinary people.

12. Impacts of Item 11.1 and 11.2 on Program Development and Relations to AU Mission 12.1. Impacts on Program Development The increasing number of air travelers creates a high demand for pilots in the commercial airlines. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Aeronautic Engineering allows the Faculty of Engineering to serve the global community in a variety of avenues. The Program creates the shortest path for airlines to acquire highly-skilled pilots with strong technical and language skills. The Program uses the strong engineering training resources from the existing engineering programs and from the airline industry to deliver highly-qualified pilots to the airline business. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Aeronautic Engineering is designed to meet these global requirements through an interdisciplinary curriculum that supports the Facultys strong engineering education to produce highly-skilled, ethical pilots to serve the global society. 12.2. Relations to AU Mission Assumption University exists for the main purpose of serving the nation by producing graduates who can contribute positively to society and the global community in terms of business entrepreneurship, technical and technological know-how, research endeavors, human interactions, interdisciplinary collaborations and partnerships based on ethical principles and values that are essential in building strong global economies and human relationships as well as promoting interdisciplinary scholarships. The Bachelor of Engineering Program in Aeronautic Engineering aims to produce competent and highly skilled pilots with strong technical and engineering background. The Program provides the shortest path to producing qualified pilots with English language skills to serve in commercial airlines and allows students to explore cultures of other nations and study how these could be incorporated and assimilated in the airline business. The Program, thus serves the AU mission. 13. Relationships (if any) with Other Programs Offered by Faculties/Departments within AU 13.1 Course (s) Offered by Other Programs 1.
