OTHER DUTIES OF SANGGU NIANG BARANG

AYMEMB ERS (Sec. 392)


Q. What are the

other duties of the members of the Sang

guniang Barangay ? A In addition to their

duties as members of the Sangguni ang Baran gay

, they shall also:

Assist the Punong Barangay

in the discharge of hisduties and functions;

Act as peace officers in the maintena nce of

publicord er and safety; and

Perform such

other duties and functions as the

Punong Barangay may delegate.

PROHIBIT ED ACTS

ohibited from engaging in? AA barangay

official is prohibited to engage in any businesstr ansaction

with the LGU in which he is an official or overwhich

he has the power of supervisio n, or with any of

itsauthori zed board officials, agents, attorneys, whereby

money is to be paid, or property or any other

thing ofvalue is to be transferre d directly or

indirectly, out of theresour ces of the LGU to such

person or firm.

official buy real estate of other pro perty forfeited

in favor of the barangay for unpaid ta xes or

assessme nt? A No. Q. May a barangay official be

a surety for any person ha ving contract or doing

business with the barangay for the performa nce of

which surety may be requir ed? A No.

Q. What penalty shall be imposed upon any barangay

official and the person dealing with him who

commits any of the prohibited acts? A An imprison

ment ranging from six (6) months and

one(1) day to six (6) years or a fine from P3,000.0

secretary ? A The barangay secretary shall:1.

Keep custody of all records of the

Sangguni ang Bara ngay and the barangay

assembly; 2. Prepare and keep the minutes

of all meetings of the Sangguni ang Barangay

and the barangay assembly; 3. Prepare a list of

members of the barangay assembly, and have the same

posted in conspicuo us placewithi n the barangay

;4. Assist in the preparati on of all necessary forms

forthe conduct of barangay registrati ons,

elections, initiatives, referenda or plebiscite s in

coordinati on withthe COMELEC ;5. Assist the

municipal civil registrar in the registrati onof

births, deaths and marriages ;6. Keeps an

updated record of all inhabitan ts of the barangay

containing the following items of informatio n,name,

address, place and date of birth, sex, civilstatus ,

citizenshi p, occupatio n and such other

itemsof informati on as may be prescribe d by law

orordinan ce.

7. Submit a report

on the actual number of barangay

residents as often as may be required by the

Sangguini ang Barangay .8. Exercise such

other powers and perform such otherduti

es and functions as may be prescribe d by law

A The Sangguni ang Barangay,

The bond shall not exceedte n thousand pesos

Keep custody of barangay funds and properties

.2. Collect and issue official receipts for taxes,

saccruing to the barangay treasury and deposit

as providedu nder Title Five, Book II of the LGC.

3. Disburse funds in accordan

ce with the financialp rocedures provided in the

Code.4. Submit to the Punong Barangay

a statement coveringt he actual and estimates

of income and expenditu resfor the precedin g and

ensuing calendar years,res pectively, subject to the

provision of Title Five, BookII of the code.5.

Render a written accountin g report of all barangay

funds and property under the custody at the end ofeach

calendar year, and ensure that such report shallbe

made available to the members of the barangay

assembly and other governme nt agencies concerned

.6. Certify as to the availabili ty of funds

wheneve rnecessar y.7. Plan and attend to the rural

postal circuit within hisjurisdic tion.8. Post the

itemized monthly collectio ns anddisbu resement

s of the barangay within ten (10) daysfollo wing the

end of every month and for at leasttwo( @2)

consecuti ve weeks at Prominent Places inthe

main office building of the barangay, plaza,

maionstre et. {Sec. 513, LGC}
