Key Commercial Requirement For IPX

End-to-End service delivery emphasis on Quality of Service and universal charging principles; Service interoperability global service inter-working (fixed & mobile, ISP & ASPs); Third party management managed access, interconnect agreement, SLA; Customer protection against misuse e.g. spam, identity theft, fraud, invasion of privacy, etc. Cascade payments equitable and sustainable division of revenue in service delivery chain; Supporting value-based service pricing reflecting the value of services to the consumer; Customer choice The consumer will make the choice on their preferred access method to enable their communication; Ease of use Should be transparent to the consumer;

GRX Simple data interconnectivity

Interconnect & roaming 2.5G and 3G data; Private to GSM community; No recognition of services transported; Best effort system; No interconnect settlement regime; Good for email Not good for VoIP Not good for video

IPX Rich IP services interconnectivity

All IP multimedia players may be connected; No relaxation of security; Recognition of services transported; Cascading service payment regime; Circuit equivalent quality of service; Good for email Good for VoIP Good for video

End-to-End Service Delivery

IPX focuses on end-to-end quality through a cascading responsibility concept; Each party will be responsibly for the performance of the next party in the transit chain IPXs will commit to Service Providers and other IPXs Service Providers will commit to IPXs where it provides the local tail connection. All parties will be subject to an SLA Each area of the system is covered, including Local tail Peering points/Interconnect Points The SLA for each service will detail the performance SP B required
SP A PCU IP network Border Gateway transit Exchange IPX 1 IPX2 Edge router Local tail CPE BG IP network Server

IPX Interconnect Models

IPX supports 3 different types of interconnect model
Interconnect Relationship None Internet Bilateral Bilateral Multilateral Transport Only Service Transit Service Hub IPX Interworking Service End to End QoS Cascade Billing Single Contract/ Connection

Termination billing takes place directly between Service Providers Single contract with IPX provider but multiple contracts with connecting Service Providers Single contract with IPX provider but multiple contracts with connecting Service Providers

Multilateral interworking, or hubbing, is the principle benefit of the IPX. One contract many partners.

Summary of Key Benefits of IPX

End To End QoS - Will enable end to end QoS for all IP Services enabling consistent and predictable service delivery between end customers; Services that require high QoS will be prioritised over less demanding services; SLA will apply equally over two IPXs. Secure Network - A highly secure network enabling full route traceability and connectivity between trusted entities; Sustainable Commercial Model - Enabling fair remuneration to all parties involved in the service delivery underpinning SLA ; Universal Interoperability can connect different communities (MNO, FNO, ISP, ASPs etc) to enable universal service interoperability; Highly Efficient and Scaleable. Single connection and commercial agreement enables connectivity to all Services Providers connection to the IPX environment.
