Project
Title: IDENTIFYING THE SNAGS OF THE AIRCRAFT CESSNA 340 Description: The project involves the taking over the maintenance of the aircraft, Cessna 340. The aircraft, Cessna 340 had been kept in the hanger for want of proper maintenance. In order to rectify the snags in the aircraft Cessna 340, it was required to check the aircraft part by part. On checking the aircraft, the problems needed to be identified and if possible repair the parts or if necessary, new parts were obtained and replaced the damaged parts. It is important to thoroughly check the aircraft, Cessna 340 leaving no snags unattended and rectified. By checking the aircraft Cessna 340, the following snags were identified and rectified. The process is described below. Problem 1: Leakage of oil in the engine Remedy: It was found that there was some leakage of oil in the engine. In order to rectify this snag, all the valves were checked and the damaged ones were placed. Problem 2: Insufficient braking: Remedy: The braking system was not able to exert enough force on the brakes and as the result, the friction was low and braking was insufficient to bring the aircraft Cessna 340 to a halt within the stipulated limits. The levers connected to the brakes were all checked and they were tightened sufficiently as per the requirement. The result was that the brakes worked according to the prescribed limits. Problem 3: Breakage over the end of the flaps present over the edge of the wing on the left. Remedy: Flaps are generally very essential for maintaining the aerodynamics force of the aircraft. The above stated problem could not be repaired and hence, new flap was obtained and fixed in the place of the damaged flap. Thus the problems were identified in the aircraft Cessna 340 and through thorough part by part inspection; the snags were detected and rectified appropriately. As a result, the grounded aircraft Cessna 340 was made capable of successful flight and verified successfully.
