4) The world would be a better place if more politicians were female. Do you agree?

(SA014) Through centuries women have been condemned the weaker sex, restricted within the four walls of the house and have been subjugated to domination. Yet, they have fought their destinies and conquered their hindrances. It is a very parochial, patriarchal mind-set that sets limitations for females. From home to military, household chores to political office women can handle it all. A woman can be a successful mother, a daughter, wife as well as a dynamic leader. Women politicians are very less in number so; women rising in political power may serve a boon for any nation. However, it does not mean that female politicians have to outnumber male leaders. Both can share equal responsibilities to create a better world. If all women were empowered, everything would change, according to former White House press secretary. It would make politics more collegial, businesses more productive and communities would be healthier. Only 13% of the members of national parliaments of the world are females. Males and females both have different perspectives and unique approaches of looking at things. So, increasing females in mainstream politics will bring in newer ideas. But it may not necessarily be positive ones. Bhrikuti helped strengthen diplomatic relations between Nepal and Tibet but not China. Women constitute half of the world's population. How can you expect the world to reach its full potential without enough females in political office? Napoleon Bonaparte had said,"Give me good mothers, I'll give you a good nation". Females are prone to bring transparency, responsible and fair attitudes in politics. For instance: In 2003, Transparency International ranked Nigeria as the most corrupt nation in the world, then Ngozi Iweala left her post as a vice-president at World Bank to overcome the country's finance minister, and by 2005, Nigeria was termed as one of 21 most improved states. However. Female politicians may also be indulged in acts of bribery and unnecessary finance may be wasted on their personal expenses .

A woman is an epitome of unconditional love, joy, hope and compassion. She can smile when she is happy, laugh when nervous, fight for what she believes in and stand up against injustice. She can handle dual responsibilities from home to office, leading huge masses of people. Women like Indira Gandhi, Golda Meir, Margaret Thatcher, Princess Dianna, Hillary Clinton have proved great leaders. Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, Harvard graduate is the current president of Liberia..
Comment [T5]: Good examples

The last century was the bloodiest in history with acts of violence, tales of war, terrorism, religious extremism, abject poverty, and disease being rampant. If more females led this world maybe world would face fewer wars but we cannot remain oblivious that most wars in history were caused by women. The fault is not only of males that these profound and vexing problems have escalated. Women have more analytical power and also sacrificing nature. This helps take them better decisions and not hasty ones. Women's society based wisdom, higher moral and ethical standards, degree of tolerance, understanding, and commitment seem must for effective policy making to solve critical issues like gender equity, corruption, wars etc that men politicians alone couldn't solve for a long time. However, this could also lead to slow development process due to slow decision making. Women are very sensitive and emotional. This may result in biased decisions. Women lack physical strength and politics is no joke. But have you ever thought of how much physical wear and tear a nursing mother undergoes who gets up half of dozens of times in the night to take care of her baby and then manages to go to work the next day? Women may still not be able to take risks and politics requires more clever and daring mind. But many women have proved their caliber by virtue of their perseverance. Lakshmi Bai the Rani of Jhansi had emerged as one of India's greatest warriors. Cleopatra went to war against one brother and had another executed. Joan of Arc went to war to liberate France.
Comment [T6]: Generalization, this can not be proven

Males have made tremendous contributions to where the world stands today. But women have been behind the success of many men. Hillary Clinton was her husband's chief political strategist. A story goes; Hillary points to gas station attendant and says" Bill, I used to date that guy". Bill laughs," If you'd married him you would be stuck here instead of married to the president of US". Hillary replies "No, If I had married him, he would be the president".
Comment [T7]: Nice one

Males and females both are the wheels of the same cart. When God created Adam and Eve they were not meant to rule over or underestimate each other. World can never march towards perfection unless women come forefront especially in governing arena. Both males and females should work together in peace and harmony. Only constructive criticisms should be passed on about each other. The principles of democracy should be fostered in order to bolster the progress of world. Womens ideas, opinions and life experiences should be accorded the same weight as mens. Then only the estimation that world would be better off with more female politicians would turn into a reality.
