The Program

The Web Development Graduate Certificate program focuses on the development of websites and web
services for multiple environments, including database driven programming and content management.
Working on team projects and individually, students will create commercial applications that apply theo-
ries of user centered design, usability, information architecture and quality assurance testing. Project
management and presentation skills are a key component of the program. Students will complete a cap-
stone project in their final semester. At the end of the program students will have a portfolio showcasing
their work. All students will complete a seven-week internship as part of their program.

ment that reflects Canada’s position as one of the world’s most wired nations. Graduates find full-time
and freelance employment as web developers in corporate, small and medium-sized businesses, gov-
ernment, entertainment, education, health care and the not-for-profit sectors. Work as web developers
creating websites, web services, and as advisors on web policies and strategic objectives. You may also
establish your own freelance businesses.

Application Process

A bachelor’s degree or postsecondary diploma


• Proficiency in a computer programming language*
• If English is not your first language, refer to Humber’s English Language Proficiency Policy.

the minimum requirements does not guarantee admission to the program.

*Note: Students concerned about their programming skills should contact the program coordinator to
discuss opportunities to brush up on their skills.

Additional Requirements

Students are required to own or have guaranteed access to an Internet-enabled personal computer in
their home or place of residence.
