In this world, money is one of the most important things for us to be able to survive. In

order to get money, people have jobs and work. According to Wikipedia.com, a job is a regular

activity performed in exchange for payment, especially as one¶s occupation. A person usually

begins a job by becoming an employee such as a banker, volunteering such as working for World

Wildlife Fund, or starting a business such as opening a store. From time to time, the increasing of

human population in this world has made many adult people difficult to get jobs. They have to

compete with others to get jobs. Usually, uneducated people get a lower chance to get well-paid

jobs. People need to have a good education, skills, and experience to get qualified/well-paid jobs.

That¶s why many people are willing to pay for well education, so that he/she can get a

qualified/well-paid job. In order to get more experience for the future, nowadays some teenagers

prefer to have jobs too. There are many kinds of jobs that teenagers can do, such as making a

band, designing clothes, selling cell phone vouchers, marketing, cheerleading, etc. Usually,

teenagers start to have jobs at the age of 15 years-old. I personally think that having a job is

useful for teenagers to get

, and  
  for better future.

The first advantage if teenagers have jobs is, we can get extra pocket money. We all

know that most of under-age children and teenagers still get money and everything from their

own parents. According to my survey, most parents give Rp. 10.000,00 until Rp. 20.000,00 per

day to their children. But mostly, we feel that the pocket money from our parents is not enough

for us. Usually, parents give that pocket money to us to buy foods and drinks at school. But in

fact, we need more money to hang out with friends, to buy clothes, etc. If we have jobs, we can
easily get extra pocket money to buy anything that we want. For example, Natia. She sells cell

phone vouchers at school. She gets around Rp.300.000,00-Rp.500.000,00 per month. Now she

does not have to ask for money to her parents again to buy something, she can buy anything that

she wants by her own money.

The second advantage if teenagers have jobs is, it can give us more experiences for better

future. If we have jobs, we can know more about having job in the early age. Most teenagers do

not understand how hard it is to get money. If we have jobs, we can respect our parent¶s effort to

get money for us. Besides that, if we have jobs now, we can imagine about our future life. So if

we grow up and work, we already know and get used to the situation. For example, Yuqa used to

be a ³bad´ boy. He never respects his parents. Every time his parents give him money, he always

used it just for fun. But after he has a job as a marketing, Yuqa respects his parents because now

he understands that it is so hard to get money. And now he can use his money carefully.

The third advantage if teenagers have jobs is, we can get more friends and meet new

people. We all know that friend is one of the most important things for human to survive in this

world. Especially teenagers, they like to hang out, share stories, and do everything with their

friends. There is a quote says ³A man without friends is only half lives´. Mostly, we got our

friends at school. But if we have jobs, we also can get more friends from that. We will meet

many new people from different backgrounds. More friends mean more connections. Who

knows, maybe someday when we are in trouble our friends can help us.
 Here I give you some examples of teenagers who have jobs and are successful based on

my small scale survey. The first one is Nabila Amanda a.k.a Naba. She is a Cheerleader. She is

16 years-old. She goes to 54 Senior High School Jakarta in the 2nd grade. She joins The A Team

Cheerleading Club and Dreams All Star Cheerleading Club. She has become a Cheerleader for

about 2 years. Naba gets around Rp.100.000,00 ± Rp.200.000,00 in every performance and she

performs three until five times a month. Besides money, she also gets more friends and

experiences. Naba said that her best experience is when The A Team got a MURI record for the

highest pyramid last year. She and her cheerleader team have won over 10 Cheerleading

Competitions in Indonesia. Naba said that she has learned many things from having a job, now

she understands that everyone has to work hard to get money. Because she already gets pretty

much money, she can buy anything that she wants by her own money.

The second example is Yumna Noer Kemal a.k.a Una. She is a member of Daily

Stupidity of A Superhero Band. The genre of her band is Chiptune. Una is 17 years-old. She goes

to 11 Senior High School Bandung. Una is a vocalist, but sometimes she makes songs too. She

made this band about a year ago with Radit and Bagus. They made this band because they love

to play video games and computer. They think that they can make beautiful songs with the sound

of video games. They get around Rp.750.000,00 - Rp.1.000.000,00 in every performance. They

perform in the weekend. Similar to Naba, Una does not only get money, but also friends and

experience too. Una said that her best experience is when she performed for the first time and got

money. She felt proud of herself because she can earn money. Una and her band are also pretty

famous now. Una said that it is so weird if she borrows her friend¶s cell phone and she sees her

band¶s songs in her friend¶s cell phone. She is happy to have this job.
 The third example is Hedi. He is a designer. He designs T-shirt, jacket, sweater, hat, etc.

He is 17 years-old. He goes to 8 Senior High School Bandung in the 2nd grade. At first, designing

is just one of his hobbies. But since he was in the 3rd grade in Junior high School, he becomes a

professional designer. He gets at least Rp.500.000,00 per design. Hedi said that by becoming a

professional designer is super fun. Besides that, he uses his job as a place for him to practice

designing something. It has increased his ability and creativity in designing. Now he already gets

pretty much income so he can save money for his future life. And the greatest thing is, he can

pay his own school fee by himself. He is proud of himself because of that.

So, does it inspire you to have jobs too? Having jobs can give you many advantages. It is

very useful for you because not only money that we get but also friends and experiences which is

very useful for our future life. So, what are you waiting for? Go find something positive to do in

your leisure time and produce money!
