A STUDY ON THE LEVEL OF WORKERS JOB SATISFACTION

INTRODUCTION

Job satisfaction of an Individual is a general attitude towards his or her


job. Job satisfaction is a major determinant of an employee’s organizational
citizenship behavior (OCB). Satisfied employees would seem more likely to talk
positively about the organization, help others and go beyond the normal
expectations in their job.

In the practice of management, Peter F. Drucker Observes, “The Sources


Capable of enlargement can only be human resources. Other resources can be
utilized or worse utilized. However, they can never have an output greater than
the sum of inputs. More alone of all the resources available can grow and
develop”. Thus the importance of human factor in any enterprise cannot be
exaggerated.

JOB SATISFACTION

“Job satisfaction is the favorableness or unfavourableness with which


employees view their work” – KEITH DAVIS.

“Job satisfaction” refers to an employee’s general attitude towards his job:


the difference between the amount of rewards workers receive and the amount
they believe they should receive – STEPHEN P. ROBBINS.

“It is a pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal


of one’s job or job experience”. – LOCK.

“Job satisfaction is defined as “The amount of over all positive effect of


feelings that individuals have towards their job”.

OBJECTIVES, SCOPE & LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY
OBJECTIVES

As job satisfaction is an outcome of combination of various factors related


to the work and work place, the following are the objectives of the study.

 To study the job satisfaction level of the employees.

 To find out the nature of problems which the persons face to perform their
work effectively.

 To study the welfare facilities provided by the company.

 To explore whether win-win situation is existing in the organization.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

Job satisfaction refers to an employee’s general attitude towards


his job. To the extend that the person’s job fulfillment his dominant and is
consistent with his expectation and values, the job will be satisfying. By analyzing
the employees satisfaction in Shell Apparels, it came to notice their satisfaction,
interest towards work, payment, relation with superior, working environment,
counseling hours and by that suggestions were made to their expectation to
increase their satisfaction in the premises.
LIMITATIONS OF THE STUDY

The following are the limitations of this study.

 Personal bias and fear among some workers in giving the response will have
an effect on the results obtained.
 Since the number of questions are more the workers were reluctant to answer
all the questions and they were in a hurry.

RESEARCH METHODOLOGY
Based on the outcome of this research, the company executives would be in a
position to take better decisions. The study involves collection of data from
individuals and it would narrate the attitudes of individuals on factors affecting job
satisfaction.
RESEARCH DESIGN

1. Descriptive research method has been followed to conduct the


research study.
2. Descriptive research study is useful to with describe the particular
characteristics of individuals or a group.
3. The descriptive research design includes surveys and fact finding
enquires.

SAMPLE DESIGN

 The sample design used is simple random sampling.


 Total population of permanent workers in the organisation is 150 and the
whole population is covered.
DATA COLLECTION

Primary & Secondary data Collection

 The primary data was collected from the employees through questionnaire
survey method.
 Interview schedule consisting of multiple choice questions and rating scales.
 Considering the size of the company and time factor the data was collected
through personal interview method.
 The primary data was collected at the site of the job with an intension to
observe the performances skill and attitude at the job.

HYPOTHESIS OF THE STUDY


The following hypothesis is tested by using χ 2
– test.

Null Hypothesis : (H0)

There is a no significant relationship in the employees satisfaction offered


by the company.

TOOLS USED IN THE STUDY

Simple percentage analysis and chi-square test analysis were used for the
analysis of responses.
