PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Ford Motor Company (TAC Transportation) 09/2005 a" 07/2008, APPLICATION ARCHITEC
T
Analyzed operational metrics to assess, design and document application architec
ture scalability to support deployment plans. Analyzed system operational metri
cs to identify system constraints. Worked with other Architects to advise proje
cts teams on how to design, develop, and integrate applications that aligned to
Fordas architecture standards and improve performance and scalability. Lead proj
ect teams in the research and evaluation of new commercial software packages to
be adopted into Fordas technology management process.
CAPTURED BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS & DOCUMENTED SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS
CONTEXT: Established 4 tier proof of concept environment to evaluate if commerci
al software package provided required functionality, flexibility and robustness
to replace aging legacy system. Worked with both client and vendor to capture re
quirements. Designed and documented technical architecture.
CHALLENGE: Coordinating and scheduling meetings between different intra-departme
nts as well as software vendor. Technical challenges exist configuring communica
tion between systems. Managing estranged relationships.
ACTION: Overcame logistical barriers by scheduling conference/net meetings. Mana
ged estranged relationships by scheduling separate meetings. Worked closely with
infrastructure team to configure and resolve systems communication. Reserved ti
me slots in innovation lab to de-conflict with concurrent testing efforts.
RESULT: Successfully configured 4-tier proof of concept environment and validate
d commercial softwareas functionality, flexibility, and robustness. Documented d
etail technical architecture. Ensured correct business functionality, requiremen
ts and Fordas software technology standards were inherit in the vendoras commerc
ial product. Proof of concept validated that leveraging shared services and virt
ualization platform reduced projectas infrastructure cost by 30%.
Accenture, Southfield MI (01/2001 a" 09/2005), BUSINESS-PROGRAM-TECHNICAL ANALYS
T
Vital resource on two teams: Tech Management (server builds/configuration) and D
evelopment & Maintenance (software development through lifecycle). Developed det
ailed business requirements, workflow procedures, data test plans and system doc
umentation. Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Tivoli Workload Scheduler (TWS) & Ba
tch Delivery Vehicle applications. (Delivery vehicles reduce the cost of develop
ing applications, through reuse and standardization of common components.) Supp
orted a B2B ecommerce hub processing with 160,000 transactions/month with a valu
e of $160MM. Designed and maintained standard application architectures, includ
ing the underlying platform, layered products and Delivery Vehicles. Planned an
d executed component and application level testing.
MANAGED IMPLEMENTING LEGACY SYSTEM UPGRADE & PROVIDED ANALYSIS, DIRECTION AND MA
INTENANCE ACTIVITIES
CONTEXT: IBMas TWS scheduling software was used to schedule job control language
(JCL) in distributed environment. Jobs often didnat run as scheduled or failed
which resulted in 1-2 hours weekly maintenance support to trouble-shoot and br
ing failed systems back online.
CHALLENGE: Effectively trouble shooting root cause because error messages were o
ften red herring and misleading.
ACTION: Opened trouble-shooting tickets with IBM and worked closely with their S
MEs to investigate.
RESULTS: Determined that root cause was a consequence of TWS not being upgraded
in several years. Documented business case that resulted in project approval fo
r TWS legacy upgrade. Smartly managed project, resources and timeline. Documente
d requirements, technical architecture, upgrade instructions and created test sc
enarios. End result-- successfully managed four week project to upgrade producti
on and lower environments and reduced TWS monthly maintenance support by 40 hour
s-- saving $7.6K.
Solutech, Troy, MI (10/2000 a" 12/2000), WEB DEVELOPER
Worked in a team environment to develop a website for a small manufacturing comp
any. Developed a login web-page to authenticate and authorize user-names and pa
sswords. Stress tested Website using MS Web Application Stress Tool. Configured
Web farm environment using multiple servers.
Compuware, Farmington Hills, MI (02/1998 a" 09/2000), PROGRAM ANALYST
Modified and regression tested COBOL programs for Y2K, with zero interruption to
critical business processes. Designed and developed a time entry Visual Basic d
esktop application using VBA Excel and macros for back-end data processing which
automated manual system and increased efficiency for month-end reporting. Trav
eled to regional plants in MI, OH and Canada to migrate DOS-based system to Wind
ows, supporting Y2K compliance. Developed intranet web application that allowed
employees to register for classes, track class availability and class size.
US Military, Selfridge Air National Guard, Michigan 04/1989 a" Present, TRAINING
MANAGER-FIRST SERGEANT
Developed strategic training plans and managed monthly training objectives. Mana
ged combat-mission-readiness training program. Worked closely with work center
supervisors to develop Master Training Plans (MTPs) for their respective work ce
nters; five total work centers. Documented MTPs.
DOCUMENTED DETAILED TRAINING REQUIREMENTS FOR INSPECTION
CONTEXT: Assigned as team lead to manage and prepare unit for an approaching in
spection. The scope of the inspection would assess five work centers and how wel
l training requirements were documented.
CHALLENGE: Coordinating with each work center supervisor to understand scope of
training requirements. Documenting MTPs and training policies for each respectiv
e work center. Standing up new online training program and training 42 personnel
.
ACTIONS: Created a project to capture loosely coupled requirements to provide a
structured approach to identify objectives, milestones and key work centers supe
rvisors. Strategic guidance was provided to core team members who consisted of f
ive members. As tasks requirements were identified and grew, the project team w
as expanded to include seven more people. Weekly status meetings provided timely
information and the ability make adjustments based on periodic updates.
RESULTS: The project resulted in aComplianta rating for the unit, trained 42 per
sonnel on new online system and completely transition from legacy system to new
training system 6 months ahead of scheduled mandate. Moreover, the keys to the
projectas success was effectively managing chaos and building relationships base
d on mutual trust.
