After a thirteen man associate member class last
semester, Nu Chapter is trying to do even better this
semester. Everyone is excited about the increase in
membership. A strong adrenaline is flowing through the
house. The TKE house plans on having a very successful
Founder's Day this year with as many alumni as possi
ble. So we do ask you to attend. Only with the
WINTER/SPRING support of every alumnus can TKE house maximize its men
and strength. If you have any questions or comments
1990 about the chapter, please give me a call.

THE EPIPRYTANIS

Nu Chapter will continue in commitment to the community by participating in

a number of philanthropic events this semester. On April 1 TKE along with AOP
Sorority will help out in the Super Cities Walk for Multiple Sclerosis by giving
a balloon to everyone who participates and will be working on a number of
projects during the day to help make the walk successful.
Then on April 28 TKE will assist in the Alameda County Special Olympics.c We
will be doing a number of things to make sure that all of the participants have a
good time. Other possibilities include the Delta Gamma Anchor Splash and one
more big event before finals. Again TKE is having a very successful semester in
philanthropy.

.HYPOPHETES

Academically, TKE is looking very strong for the present semester. Asso
ciate members have regular weekly study hours and the house GPA last semester was
nearly 3.0, ranking TKE in the upper echelon of fraternity scholastics. I ave
renovated our test files and initiated a weekly recognition program to provlde
incentive for my fraters to continue to succeed academically. In the world of
sports our impressive football, soccer, bowling and basketball teams all fared
.
well in intramural sports and house morale remains very high.

HEGEMON/RUSH CHAIRMAN REPORT

As usual, Spring Rush has proven difficult for the fraternities on the Cal
campus, but TKE has managed to emerge unscathed. Despite a limited rush budget,
we managed to acquire three new associates: Quentin Liu, Manning Louie, and
David Smith. They are currently going through our four week, newly-improved
associate member class system, and are proving themselves exemplary Tekes. In
addition, the brevity of the four week class allows us to induct a second class
every semester, and thus markedly expanding our membership. If this first class
is any indication of the irection of TKE, Nu Chapter will remain a vital source
of brotherhood for years to come.

Paul Ark - Hegemon

I EXTERNAL EPI PRYTANIS

i
i Greetings from Nu Chapter. As many of you may or may not know that this
semester I have taken the initiative to reactivate the office of External Epi

I want to increase the alumni relation, for it is not too prominent as of
I now. I want this for several rp?sons. Most importantly, in dealing with human

relations, knowing people can help a lot:' It i s not everyt hing, but it is not to
be dismissed. After seeing chapters like Beta Sigma of USC, the alumni is
definitely a powerful force that could benefit Nu Chapter immensely.
If at all possible, please correspond your vital information, i.e. current
address, number, and place of occupation, to Nu Chapter at 2725 Channing Way,
Berkeley, CA 94704, c/o Daniel E. Chien.
P.S. Effective immediately, Alumni Dinners will be on Monday nights. All
Alums are welcome with any guests. Please call in advance.

CHRYSOPHLYES REPORT

Because of a heavy academic load our previous Crysophylos had to resign and
our Epi Prytanis had to assume the respo sibility of rent tollection. This semester
the live-in board Jnd room is $2,000. which has been increased to account for infla
tion costs. We are no longer taking in boarders and we are trying to fill the House
with TEKES. I am reorganizing the internal accounting operations of the Chapter;
with a view to streamining the rent paid/voucher system, restructuring the budget,
revising the accounts receivable forms to reflect the true financial position of
the fraters and the House. We look forward to Fall 1999 with the reorganization in place.
