Selected Achievements
Slashed operating budget 16-fold. Challenged to cut Schlumberger's operating/man
agement costs to under $8M per year while directing $50M budget covering 11 CA s
ites. Utilizing strong leadership, drive, strategic planning and team-building a
cumen, reduced annual operating budget to $3.1M and grew margin $70M+ over a fiv
e-year period.
Significantly grew revenue/margins. Sales of solar systems had quadrupled, but S
unPower lacked right staff and procedures to meet demand. Hired talented constr
uction PMs. Set weekly update meetings/trainings. Completed 60+ PV solar project
s in NA/Hawaiian Islands, with stellar safety record and five consecutive quarte
rs of growth.
Negotiated demolition of facility at zero cost. Schlumberger's cost for demoliti
on of 300,000+ sq. ft. facility in SC was $4M. Arranged for an aggressive demoli
tion contractor to offset all demolition, grading and landscaping costs through
complex second-party contract for sale of all reclaimable materials/equipment. S
aved company entire $4M.
Increased productivity to achieve lucrative incentive goals. SunPower's producti
on rates at Nellis AFB's PV trackers installations were 40% behind schedule. Neg
otiated aggressive recovery subcontract agreement with steelworker contractor an
d set up production tracking system, increasing productivity 60% to gain $10M in
centive.
