Recently, the English College (EC) for the first time, had collaborated with Olympia College, Johor
Bahru campus to organize the Math¶s Warrior Programme. Cikgu Nora and her team from English
College came to Olympia College, Johor Bahru campus to meet the Programme Leaders.

The English College (EC) school bus brought over eighty (80) school students from form six, form five
and form four accompanied by four school teachers.

The Master of Ceremony, Ms. Shalihah started the session and introduced all the facilitators. Then, Cikgu
Nora briefed the students about the ³Amazing Race´ Game. Subsequently, Ms. Latha briefed the students
on the floor plan of Olympia College and gave instructions on where the check points are located.

At the same time, Ms. Yvonne and Ms. Ling Lee briefed the college students, who will be the facilitators
at each checkpoint about the procedures of the activity. When the Amazing Race started, the students
went up and down thoroughly and managed to finish the race. Basically, every group must cross ten
checkpoints to win this game.

After the Amazing Race, the students were given ten minutes of break. Then the Future Stimuli game
started. Conducted by Ms. Doreen, facilitated by the staff, as well as guided by the Olympia College
students as the Financial Consultants, the eighty students were divided into eight groups. The objective of
the game is to guide the students how to plan their finances throughout their lifetime.

Afte the lunch break, Ms. Doreen chose three students to do their presentations. The students said that
they had enjoyed the session thoroughly and they had learnt how to do a proper financial planning. Most
of students said that they did not really managed to save money and they discovered that saving money is
harder than spending the money. The students also said that they want to adopt the Future Stimuli concept
as it provides them an idea about managing cash flow.

After the presentations, the Math¶s Exploration activity kicked off. The importance of Mathematics and
applying it to real life situations was briefed to the students. The students were given a task to redesign
the parking lot. The students must assume the role of engineers and are required to design a better parking
lot for Olympia College. The students were only given a rope with 1m length and were guided to the
parking lot to do the measurement and design the parking lot. Then, selected group of students presented
their designs.

After the presentation, the facilitator explained about the application of Form Five Mathematics syllabus
related to the activity the students had participated. At the end of the session, the students managed to
come up with creatively designed car parks.

The next activity was also related to application of Mathematics. This activity was based on how the
Egyptian had done it long time ago. The students were given manila card and scissors and were assigned
to build a Pyramid with a measurement of 750cm3 . Students were only given half an hour to do the model
and they had to be very good in Mathematics to be able to do it and were required to work in groups to
do the Pyramid. Only two groups managed to do the Pyramid with the exact calculation.

Subsequently, the College Principal, Mr Low Jiun Jack gave a closing speech and presented the prizes to
the Amazing Race winners.

Olympia College¶s cutting edge and industry oriented Diploma in Business Studies programme will equip

recognized for exemptions and on completion of an integrated project will be awarded the prestigious,
Higher National Diploma (HND) from Edexcel, UK.

This guarantees entry into 2nd year of an undergraduate degree locally or to over 200 universities in UK,
USA and Australia. Students who want an European exposure can also completed their degree through
the University of Information Technology and Management (UITM), Poland at very affordable fees.
