INTERN, R&D
JUN 2009-JUN 2010
Rendered service in the development of two Process Analytical Technology (PAT) t
o facilitate real-time control of critical parameters during human plasma fracti
onation process and diverse projects. Initiated and established protocols and st
andard operating procedures (SOP) for the research and development activities.
- PAT 1: In-Process Alcohol Measurement
o Executed micro-motion densitometer data collection and analysis to successfull
y observe the in-process alcohol concentration of plasma suspensions throughout
plasma fractionation procedure, with a potential savings of $2M annually.
- PAT 2: Impedance Spectroscopy for In-Process Characterization of Protein Suspe
nsions
(Patent Approval in progress)
o Meticulously analyzed and assessed the feasibility of using impedance spectros
copy for in-process screening of protein suspensions during several process, inc
luding alcohol addition, paste suspension, filter aid addition and filtration.
o Exemplified and differentiated protein suspensions according to pH, alcohol co
ncentration, and salinity.
o Established correlation between protein, immunoglobulin concentration and impe
dance signal during filtration of plasma suspension.
- CAPA (Corrective Action Preventive Action)
o Planned and carried out pilot scale studies on Monoclonal Antibody
Chromatography columns using AKTA Explorer and BIORAD system as part of
CAPA evaluation.
o Skillfully documented protocols and executed chemical and biological assays.
- New Filter Aid Evaluation
o Prepared protocol and executed studies to assess the performance of acid washe
d (AWB-3) diatomaceous earth during filtration as a probable alternative to Celp
ure filter aid.
- Pilot Plant Study
o Directed and controlled a team in creating protocol and developing certain int
ermediate pharmaceutical products from 200 liters of human plasma in a GMP pilot
plant.
o Studied and examined the quality of down-stream products during filtration of
intermediates using biochemical testing.
