* Worked as part of a Manufacturing Excellence Team tasked with performing root
cause analysis of various processes and equipment and determining the best cours
e of action in implementing improvement.
* Initially tasked with determining the cause for unreliability of an automated
shuttle system. Worked with programmers, design engineers, mechanics, and person
al observations to put proper troubleshooting tools together to pinpoint problem
s and take proper steps to resolve the problem. Associates were able to spend mo
re time focused on their assigned duties rather than taking time out to attempt
to fix errant shuttles. Worked with programmers to develop a tracking and report
ing program to document shuttles that were repeat offenders so that they could b
e removed and repaired.
* Was tasked as part of an initial team of 3 to improve the efficiency of 6 orig
inal bulk fiber spool winders. Put in place improvements in Preventative Mainten
ance, good housekeeping, and PLC programming changes that improved the output fr
om around 94% efficiency to over 96% efficiency which was an all time record for
the winders.
* Was appointed part of a DMAIC team to reduce fiber breakage. Designed, built,
and tested with associates a prototype mobile glass blank cleaning stand that me
t the requirements of safety, versatility, ease of use, and compatibility with c
urrent plant systems. Implemented hardware improvements to existing ware handlin
g elements of existing process to further reduce contamination and reduce fiber
breakage.
