One of main problems, which aridng at the design of the spacecraft antennas for
modern satelite communication systems is creation of the contour beam with given of
variable shape for the uniform "illuminate" of the some territory and ensure of the low
sidelobes. These antennas radiate shaped beams that cover prescribed service region in
which the highest possible antenna gain is required. Contoured beam reflector antennas
(CBRA) can have various configurations. A typical CBRA consists of a paraboloidal
reflector and multihorn feed. The shaped radiation is produced by adjusting the positions
and excitations of the feed horns.
The contoured beam hybrid reflector antennas with classic and non-classic reflectors
and array feed are the object of investigation in this paper. The variational formulation
of the synthesis technique in which magnitude, geometry feed array and type radiating
elements are given, has been taken as a basis of the reseach. It consists in determination
of the amplitude-phase distribution (APD) on the elements of the array feed. The design
problems are usually over-specified, there may not be exact solution.
In this situation, one needs a means to search for the "best" (or the "optimum")
solution in terms of some criterion. In our approach, the best solution is determined by
the optimization technique, and the criterion is the minimization of an object function
N

where Fg is a given magnitude, Zn is an amplitude-phase distributions on the elements of

array feed, N is a quantity of elements, P > 0 is a some real parameter, and

Here fn is a pencil ("partial") beam of n-th separate elements of array feed. The value fn
can be determined for all points of observation in a service region and outside of its with
the help of physical optics methods.
The object function U ensured minimum of the mean-square deflexion of synthesized
magnitude and given in some region and minimum sidelobes on the outside of its. After
all the problem is reduced to solution of the nonlinear system of algebraic equation, which
is solved by iterative method.
The application of the synthesis technique are illustrated in this work. Contoured
beam satellite antenna consists of a nonsymmetric offset reflector (the square cutting
with a side 40X from a paraboloidal reflector with a ratio f / D = 0.35) and array feed.
The feed is an 2-polarized (cosd)" source with -3dB edge tape. The goal is to produce a
contoured beam that covers the territory of Ukraine.
We shall note, that the offered approach and developed algorithm permit solved the
problem of synthesis of the contoured directivity patterns any shapes for hybrid antennas.
Thus, such approach can be used at designing of the satellite antennas of communications
for cover certain territory of the given shape.
