semblies and individual components for the Design and Development department. Ex
perienced in the use of Wildfire 4.0 and Windchill. Some assignments completed o
n Autocad.
Aided in streamlining the ECN process and opening communications between manufac

WHIRLPOOL/MAYTAG, Newton, Iowa 1990 - 2006


Research and Development Designer III
Product designer for enclosure cabinetry and internal components for washers, dr
yers, dishwashers and refrigerators. Daily responsibilities were design, 3-D mod
eling and creating drawings of a variety of parts and assemblies with emphasis o
n injection molded plastic components, sheet metal and mold design.
"Special Assignment" to projects resulting in two patents: the design of the fab
ric softener and bleach dispensing system for the Maytag Neptune stacked washer
and dryer; and the ornamental sheet metal design interface of the door, top cove
r and front panel for the last Maytag top loading washer and dryer developed in
Newton.
Assisted in many other patents and coordinated several Pro-Engineer master assem
blies.
Instructed the use of top-down design and 3-D modeling to engineering and design
staff utilizing Pro-Engineer.
Heavily involved in the completion of ECNs, drawing checking, and working closel
y with manufacturing to upgrade processes and make the designs more efficient.

BOURNES, INC., Ames, Iowa 1988-1990


Designer/Drafter
Produced designs and drawings of potentiometer production equipment. All 3-D cad
work created on the CADMAX system.
Designed a model-specific potentiometer manufacturing machine using a rotary ind
exer which assembled, soldered and washed the small components at a fast pace an
d produced large quantities.
OMARK-OUTERS, Onalaska, Wisconsin 1981-1988
Designer/Drafter
Started with board drafting and implemented Autocad to produce drawings of scope
mounts, gun cabinets and cleaning equipment. Responsible for design, testing an
d documentation of all shipping cartons. Miscellaneous jobs also included produc
t labeling and artwork paste-up.
