Evanston Township High School, Substitute teacher, April 2010- present-I was jus
t recently hired as a substitute teacher for Evanston Township High School for t
he remainder of the school year. I am called in as needed to substitute and tut
or for various content areas and grade levels.
Kelvyn Park High School, Student Teacher, Chicago Public Schools, winter 2010--
From January 4- March 12, I was a student teacher at Kelvyn Park high school. I
worked with all high school grade levels (9-12 at Kelvyn Park) in the subjects
of English and ESL. I have over 300 hours of English and ESL teaching experienc
e. I was also an AVID tutor at Kelvyn Park, and spent the entire month of Decemb
er volunteering at the school before student teaching. I assisted my cooperating
teacher with preparation of the ACCESS and ACT testing materials for the Bi-Lin
gual department. I also attended report card pick-up for the 9th grade class a
s well as conferences regarding teaching methods with my cooperating teacher.
Various Chicago Public Schools, Observer/ Assistant 2007--2009---For DePaul's gr
aduate education program, I have observed and assisted in various Chicago Public
Schools. In addition to student teaching, I have completed over 140 observatio
n hours in the classroom, much more than the required 100 for our program.
CH Robinson - Mentor to new employees - 2005 - 2008 - I provided information and
guidance to new employees during my time in sales at CH Robinson. I assisted n
ew employees with understanding how the company's software operates, as well as
responded to questions about their job responsibilities.
Citizenship Coaching Project - Chicago Cares - 2005 - As a citizenship coach I t
utored prospective United States citizens as they studied for the U.S. citizensh
ip test. I frequently worked with prospective citizens for whom English was a s
econd language.
Swim Instructor, Mentor, OH Civic Center Water Park - 1997 -- 2002 - In this pos
ition, I was responsible for communicating to students the skills required for s
wimming. My students ranged in age from 1- 12.
Education / Certification:
Certification-- Type 9, Secondary Education (6-12.) I have an endorsement in se
nior high school English.
I plan on obtaining my type 29 certification in the late summer or early fall.
I plan on obtaining my ESL endorsement in the next 1-2 years.
DePaul University, Chicago, Illinois - 2007 to Present - I graduated from DePaul
with a Master's in Secondary English Education on June 12th, 2010. I graduated
with a 3.908 GPA and I am a member of the Golden Key Honor Society.
Miami University, Oxford, Ohio - 1999 - 2003--I graduated from Miami University
with a degree in English: Creative Writing. I also have 20+ credit hours of his
tory and the history of religion from Miami University.
