Bituminous Aluminium has a brilliant silver finish

and is supplied ready-for-use. It is formulated with
leafing aluminium flake, suspended in Bitumen
Solution, offering maximum ultraviolet degradation
and weather resistance to SA's harsh climate & sun.

PREPARATION & CLEANING
All surfaces to be painted must be clean, free from rust, dirt, grease,
flaking or loose paint and must be thoroughly dry.
New galvanized iron roofs: De-grease with GALVACLENSE,
rinse and let dry. Apply two coats of Bituminous Aluminium.
Weathered galvanized iron roofs: Primer not required. Apply one
or two coats of Bituminous Aluminium.
Steel & wrought iron: Sand and wipe clean with a cloth soaked in
Mineral Turpentine.
IMPORTANT
 Do not paint the exterior when rain is imminent
 Do not apply to wet surfaces
 Ambient and surface temperatures must be between 10oC and
35oC during application
 Match batch numbers to retain silver consistency
 The product must be thoroughly stirred with a flat paddle until
homogeneous before use and periodically during application

 Start at the apex and work downwards
 Complete a full sheet at a time
 Join in the valleys and maintain a wet edge to avoid overlapping
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS
 Keep out of reach of children, do not ingest
 Wear rubber shoes, safety harnesses and helmets when working
on pitched roofs
 Ensure adequate ventilation during application & drying
 Organic vapour masks are advised
 Chemical resistant gloves & safety goggles recommended
 Solvent evaporates, close the container when not in use
 Flammable - keep away from open flame, refrain from smoking
FIRST AID MEASURES
 Harmful if swallowed: Drink a lot of water, do not induce
vomiting and seek medical attention
 Eye contact: Flush immediately with clean water, seek medical
attention
 Skin contact: Use Mineral Turpentine to remove product from
hands and skin and wash with warm soapy water, remove
contaminated clothing immediately
 Respiratory problems: Remove affected person to fresh air
GUARANTEE
Bituminous Aluminium is guaranteed for three years not to flake, peel or
blister when applied according to instructions on properly prepared surfaces.
Protective Paints will supply sufficient product to re-do the affected area.
Breakdown of previous coatings are not covered by this guarantee. Project
registration and proof of purchase required.

APPLICATION
Stir thoroughly with a flat paddle until homogeneous before
use and periodically during application. Apply with a paint brush,
roller or airless spray for best results. Do not dilute or overspread.
Apply mid-morning, after the dew has dried and before the roof
temperature has risen to 400C. Resume in the afternoon when the
roof has cooled down.

A generous coat of Bituminous Aluminium will cover most Quality paint you can rely on
surfaces, two coats give optimum protection. Allow overnight drying

If you have purchased, or have intentions of purchasing this
product, make a print-out of this data sheet and keep it available in
case of emergency. The information contained on it may be of
assistance to medical personnel in the case of accidental ingestion
1. FIRST AID MEASURES
General:
In all cases of doubt, or where symptoms persist, seek medical
attention. Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Inhalation:
Remove to fresh air, keep patient warm and at rest. If breathing is
irregular or stopped administer artificial respiration. Give nothing by
mouth. If unconscious, place in recovery position and seek medical
advice.
Eye Contact:
Irrigate copiously with clean fresh water for at least 10 minutes,
holding the eyelids apart. Seek medical advice.
Skin contact:
Remove contaminated clothing. Wash skin thoroughly with soap
and water or use a recognised skin cleaner. Do NOT use solvents
or thinners.
Ingestion:
If accidentally swallowed, obtain immediate medical attention. Keep
at rest. Do NOT induce vomiting.
5. TOXICOLOGICAL INFORMATION
There is no information available on the material itself. Exposure to
component solvent vapour concentrations in excess of the stated
Occupational Exposure Limit may result in adverse health effects
such as mucous membrane and respiratory system irritation and
adverse effect on kidney, liver and central nervous systems.
Symptoms and signs include: headache, dizziness, fatigue,
muscular weakness, drowsiness and, in extreme cases, loss of
consciousness. Repeated or prolonged contact with the material
may cause removal of natural fat from the skin resulting in non-
allergic contact dermatitis and absorption through the skin. The
liquid splashed in the eyes may cause irritation and reversible
damage.
6. SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT
Exclude sources of ignition and ventilate the area. Avoid breathing
vapours. Refer to protective measures listed 2. & 3. above. Contain
and collect spillage with non-combustible absorbent materials (e.g.

container for disposal according to local regulations. Do not allow to
