The answer can be found in The Noble Qur’an
In The Name of Allah (God) The Most Compassionate The Most

And who can be more unjust than he who invents a

lie against Allah (God), or says: "I have received
inspiration," whereas he is not inspired in anything;
and who says, "I will reveal the like of what Allah
(God) has revealed." And if you could but see when
the wrong­doers are in the agonies of death, while
the angels are stretching forth their hands (saying):
"Deliver your souls! This day you shall be
recompensed with the torment of degradation
because of what you used to utter against Allah
(God) other than the truth. And you used to reject His
Ayât (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs,
revelations, etc.) with disrespect! "

In The Name of Allah (God) The Most Compassionate The Most

Say (O Muhammad SAW): "O people of

the Scripture (Jews and Christians)!
Exceed not the limits in your religion
(by believing in something) other than
the truth, and do not follow the vain
desires of people who went astray in
times gone by, and who misled many,
and strayed (themselves) from the
Right Path."

And when it is said to them: "Follow

that which Allah has sent down",
they say: "Nay, we shall follow that
which we found our fathers
(following)." (Would they do so)
even if Shaitân (Satan) invites
them to the torment of the Fire.
