I study food engineer in the UNER.

Food engineering is concerned with all aspects of food development. It includes selection,
preservation, processing, packaging, distribution, and use of safe, nutritious, and wholesome food.
It studies the physical, microbiological, and chemical makeup of food.
Food engineer applies concepts of maths, physics, chemistry, microbiology, biology to food
materials.
The food engineers can:
develop new food, design machinery and processes to produce food, design and implement food
safety and preservation measures in the production of food, apply biotechnological precesses of
food production, choose and design food packaging materials, carry out sensory evaluation of the
product with trained expert panels or potencial consumers, perform microbiological and chemical
testing, study shelf-life and perform quality control of food production.

This term I´m taking thermodynamics, organic chemistry II, analythical chemistry II and stability
and mechanics.

I´m not taking any electives.

I´m also studying Physics II for the september exams.

I attend classes only in the afternoons, from 3 to 9 o´clock.

My favorite subjects are Analythical chemistry and physics. AC is the analysis of material samples
to gain an understanding of their chemical composition and structure. Physics studies the universal
laws that govern matter, energy, time and space. It explains the nature in agreement with
experience.

My interests go from sports to arts. I like reading a lot, mainly historical and adventure novels, I
also enjoy watching films and listenig to music.

I want to be a food engineer and work in a factory. I would like to work in the production plant of
the factory, I don´t really like lab work.

I would like to live wherever I can develop my career and have a good job. I would prefer to stay in
Cdia. but I know it´s very difficult to find a job in this city.

Chemistry is the science concerned with the reactions, transformations and aggregations of matter,
as well as accompanyin energy and entropy changes during such transformations.
Its subdiciplines are:
Analythical chemistry: is the analysis of material samples to gain understanding of their chemical
composition and structure.
Organic chemistry: is the study of the structure, properties, composition, mechanisms, and reactions
of organic compounds, wich are those with a carbon skeleton.
Physical chemistry: is the study of the physical and fundamental basis of chemical systems and
processes. In particular, the energetics and dynamics of such systems and processes.
Inorganic chemistry: ies teh study of the properties and reactions of inorganic compounds.
Algebra studies the structure, relation and quantity.

Calculus: studies limits, derivates, integrals, and infinite series

Biology is the study of life. It examines the structure function, growth, origin, evolution, and
distribution of living things.
The traditional fields of biology are: zoology, botany and microbiology
Others are: biochemistry, cellular biology, phisiology, ecology

Statistics is a mathematical science pertaining to de collection, analysis, interpretation or

explanation and presentation of data.

Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, which are unicellular or cell-cluster microscopic

organisms.

The school of food science is a public, coeducational, secular, research-oriented institution.

Students don´t have to pay any fee. There are two houses, one for boys and one for girls, which are
for campus accomodation.
There are some financial help for students. They can have scolarships, food aid and some payed lab
work.
There is a high student-teacher ratio because is a small school.

The MIT is a private, coeducational, research university located in Cambridge, Massachussets, US.
The letters stand for Massachussets Institute of Technology.
There are about four thousand undergraduate students and six thousand postgraduate students.
The annual endowment for the MIT are 9,98 billon dolars.
The MIT places enphasis on scientific and technological research
It was established in 1861, so it´s 149 years old
It adopted a German university model
It´s campus is 168 acres and extends over 1 mile along the northern bank of the Charles River basin.
It was opened in 1916
MIT members research on various fields of study, not only physical science and engineering but
also humanistics.
There are 1008 faculty members
There where 72 Nobel laureates who worked/studied at the MIT
