First Green SuperCamp Prepares Young Leaders for a Bright Future

A partnership between two pioneers in education, the Green School and SuperCamp,
has led to the worldâ s first Junior Green SuperCamp for 11 to 13 year olds in Bali
from July 5-11 2011.
Bali, Indonesia, May 21, 2011 -- A partnership between two pioneers in education
, the Green School and SuperCamp, has led to the worldâ s first Junior Green SuperCam
p for 11 to 13 year olds in Bali from July 5-11 2011.
The Green SuperCamp will bring together young leaders from around the world for
an inspiring, interactive seven days. The camp will equip them with a far greate
r awareness of the impact they can have on their community, environment and the
future of the planet.
Based in Bali, Indonesia, the Green School has been attracting global media atte
ntion for its radical approach to education: A school designed entirely of susta
inable materials, where the children grow their own food and learn through natur
e. Based in the United States, SuperCamp has built a reputation after 30 years a
s the world leader in summer enrichment camp.
SuperCamp uses proven research from the fields of education, neuroscience, cogni
tive and behavioral psychology, and adolescent development to create an environm
ent of engaged, joyful, successful learning. This is not your traditional summer
camp.
Bobbi DePorter, co-founder and president of SuperCamp, and her elite team of edu
cators have changed the lives of over five million kids worldwide through SuperC
amp and Quantum Learning school programs. Today, more than 58,000 graduates from
programs in the United States, Europe, Asia and Latin America are part of the S
uperCamp family, and SuperCamp is recognized as the leader in youth academic and
life skills development.
DePorter commented on the first Green SuperCamp, "Our partnership with Green Sch
ool comes at an important time, when students are already seeking ways to be mor
e globally aware and environmentally responsible. What better way to spend the s
ummer than in the heart of Bali at a school that has built a name as the worldâ s Gre
en School."
Green SuperCamp builds on the reputation and track record of SuperCamp by taking
place at the Green School in Bali with a modified program that integrates the p
rogram with nature, lessons on sustainability, and global responsibility. This i
s a SuperCamp for green citizens.
Cynthia Hardy, co-founder of the Green School, added, "Our Green School Curricul
um has so much in common with the SuperCamp ethos of responsibility, learning by
doing and putting the unique needs of each child first. This SuperCamp will be
unique in combining many fun and engaging activities from nature with SuperCampâ s pr
oven formula for results."
Over seven action-packed days, young leaders from 11 to 13 will take part in a f
ull schedule of fun, inspiration and experiential learning. This includes life s
kills, increasing confidence and motivation through the eight keys of excellence
, leadership, creative skills, problem solving and becoming aware of the impact
they can have through the choices they make. It also includes learning skills, i
ncreasing academic performance and improving grades through Quantum Study strate
gies, math mastery, mind-mapping, accelerated reading and memory skills.
Roger James Hamilton, a social entrepreneur and Green School parent, explains wh
y he has enrolled his two younger children on the camp, "This is a once-in-a-lif
etime opportunity - the first Green SuperCamp. Iâ ve seen the transformation that chi
ldren have had at SuperCamp and the change my own children have experienced at t
he Green School. To have the time outside of school, with world-class facilitato
rs, to meet new friends and learn new skills is invaluable."
Green SuperCamp is currently accepting enrolments for both students and voluntee
rs on their Website. They are also partnering with schools for class trips and o
rganizing stays within Bali for parents to accompany their children to Bali and
enjoy a vacation whilst their child attends the camp.
