Connections
A. National Standards:
Math
 Draw (freehand, with ruler and protractor, and with technology) geometric shapes
with given conditions. Focus on constructing triangles from three measures of
angles or sides, noticing when the conditions determine a unique triangle, more
than one triangle, or no triangle.
B. Other Disciplinary Standards:
Social Studies
• SS-6-CS-U-1Students will understand that culture is a system of beliefs,
knowledge, institutions, customs/traditions, languages and skills shared by a
group of people. Through a society’s culture, individuals learn the relationships,
structures, patterns and processes to be members of the society
• SSS-6-CS-U-3Students will understand that interactions among individuals and
groups assume various forms (e.g., compromise, cooperation, conflict,
competition) and are influenced by culture.
• SS-6-CS-U-5Students will understand that an appreciation of the diverse
complexity of cultures is essential in our global society.
Reading
• Students will understand that knowing how to apply phonetic principles, context
clues, and orthographic patterns (including structural analysis, analogizing, and
spelling patterns) can help determine unfamiliar words while reading.
• EL-7-DIU-U-3Students will understand that the use of comprehension strategies
enhances understanding of text.
Writing
• EL-7-WS-U-1 Students will understand that sentences must be complete and
clear. Variety in sentence structure helps to engage the reader and make meaning
more clear. Sometimes, unconventional sentence structure is appropriate for an
intended effect upon the reader.
• EL-7-WV-U-4
• Students will understand that writers need to use correct spelling, punctuation and
capitalization.
C. Statement Connecting the Standards to Your Objectives:
The above standards relate to my objectives because the students will be using rulers
and protractors to measure and determine angles. Students will read about another
culture, which is the middle ages and learn about knights and castles. Students will
learn to use context clues to understand unknown words. Students will also use their
knowledge about writing to write a successful paper about angles.
Context
1. Unit
A. This is a 5 day lesson. This lesson plan covers all 5 days.
B. Each lesson will last a whole period, which is about 45 minutes.
2. Students
A. Students will need to have basic knowledge of angles from previous year.
Students also need to know how to read at their grade level and comprehend. Student will
need to have basic knowledge of how to write a good paper.
B. Students at this school have really high test scores. In order to maintain these
high test score, activities like this one are repeated, to encourage thinking, learning,
and at the same time have fun.
Differentiation:
A. Accommodations:
Student Plan/Need Describe the type of plan for this student and the
Identifier specific needs that they need.
Accommodation Describe exactly how you are going to meet the
needs of this particular student.
JD1 Plan/Need IEPs

Accommodation Students with IEPs will be met according to their

needs as listed on their IEPs. (Teacher assistance,
extended time, cueing, paraphrasing, special needs
teacher, less problems or problems less difficult but
still coming directly from the above assessments,
etc…)
JD2 Plan/Need 504s
Accommodation Students with 504s will be met according to their
needs as listed on their 504s.
JD3 Plan/Need GSSPs
Accommodation Students with GSSPs will be met according to their
needs as listed on their GSSPs.
JD4 Plan/Need ELLs

Accommodation Students with ELLs will be met according to their

needs as listed on their ELLs- translators,
paraphrasing, more detailed explanations, and
independent work with teacher, aide, extended time,

B. Individual Learning Styles:
