High Performance Processing
AVS/Express Parallel Edition
Provides a framework for parallel computation
within both AVS/Express Developer Edition and
AVS/Express Multipipe Edition.
Delivers a parallel module suite of readers, filters
and mappers that can be combined with existing
AVS/Express networks, improving productivity
and significantly increasing operational perfor-
mance.
Utilizes industry standard Message Passing
software, SGI’s MPT for use on multiprocessor
shared memory architectures and MPICH2 for
clusters of Windows or Linux hardware, includ-
ing HP’s HP-SVA Visualization Clusters.
Data is decomposed and distributed to the
processor nodes, undergoing computation by
subsequent parallel modules and finally
rendered either on the desktop or on large multi-
screen displays.
In keeping with AVS’s tradition of providing open
extensible development tools, the Parallel
Edition also delivers a programming API allow-
ing users to develop their own parallel modules,
leveraging upon the extensive research and
development that AVS applies to all its products.
AVS/Express Parallel Edition is productized
using PST developed by JAEA.
