ENGLISH CAMP

For
FOREIGN STUDENTS

PROLOGUE

There has never been a language as widely spread and used as the English
language. It is the “lingua franca” of the modern world.

Roughly one quarter of the world’s population is already fluent or competent in


English – this number is growing everyday.

The phenomenal spread of English in the last 200 years has not just been the
result of the British Empire and American economic power, but also a third
factor: international technology.

As a result, English is driving the growth of global internet, science, popular


music, entertainment and international travel.

This has triggered a globalization of culture – which, in turn has given rise to the
need of English competency language of business, communication, higher
education, aviation, etc.

In view of this development, competency and proficiency in English language is


becoming a requisition and basic qualification for employability.
OBJECTIVES

The English camp program is specifically designed to develop English language


competency for foreign students in particular who would like learn English for short-
term and intensively. The program fulfills the participants’ aim to acquire the basic
or elementary, and up to intermediate level of English, depending on the students’
needs and the level of English at the time they enter. Special focus will be on daily
conversational skills to enable the students to speak and express themselves
confidently.

COLLEGE’S REQUIREMENTS

1) Minimum number of students per trip/camp: 20 students

2) Targeted groups:  High schools students with 13 years of age and above
 University students
 General adults

3) Pre-requisite: understand basic English (nouns and verbs)

COURSES
Conversational English is a program designed to cater to any interested and eligible
participant.

Programme Stucture

Course duration : 4 weeks (Full Time)


Actual Lesson Contact Hours : 6 hours X 5 days X 4 weeks =120 hours
Lecture time: Monday to Friday
8.00 am to 3.00 pm, inclusive of breaks: 10am to 10;30am,
12:30pm – 1:30 pm

Assessments:  Mid course progressive test


 End of course exam
Award: Certificate of Attendance

Group size
The training shall be conducted with 10 -12 students per group.

AMC The School Of business, Kota Kinabalu City, Sabah Malaysia.

Commencing Date / Notice of Commencement


The class / camp can start anytime throughout the year.
We need a Notice of commencement for the class: Minimum 4 weeks

*** Note: item 2: The place to live is at “Likas Condotel”, a 3 star hotel which is
about 4 KM from the college. Twin sharing basis. Monday to
Sunday.
Item 3: Inclusive of breakfast and dinner only and based on the hotel
menu. Lunch is excluded from the fee, students may consume
their lunch at the food court in the shopping complex where there
are a various types of food including international cuisines.
Item 4: Transportation is inclusive of to-and-fro between the hotel and the
college for the lesson purpose only, and also to-and fro (arrival
and departure) between airport and hotel.

The fee does not include any activities other than the normal class lessons.

Teacher / Trainer:
A well experienced and qualified teacher with the student-teacher ratio: 10-12 : 1.
A mixture of English native speaker teacher and local Malaysian teacher to deliver
the program.

Student Academic Award:


Upon the completion of the program, student will be awarded with College Certificate
of Attendance and Score Transcript.

Placement test:
Each student will be given a placement test at the beginning of the class. This is to
determine their English level, and to enable the college to determine the right syllabus
and materials.

Requirement of students Guardian:


For underage (below 18) students travelling in a group, in order to facilitate the
Malaysian Immigration control, at least 2 guardians for a group of 20 students are
required upon arrival to Malaysia.

Note: The college is not responsible for arranging visa for students.
