Amnesty International’s 2011 annual report highlights the unprecedented opportunity for
human rights change as demands for freedom and justice across the Middle East and North
Africa are growing. But this change stands on a knife-edge as freedom of expression is under
attack by governments willing to beat, maim or kill peaceful protestors to stay in power.
