Unit Six Curriculum Outline
‘Sharing the Planet’
Dear Parents,
Last week we began our new unit
under the transdisciplinary theme
of ‘Sharing the Planet’. The central
idea for the unit is:
“Children worldwide face a
variety of obstacles in access-
ing education”
Within this unit we would like the
students to gain an appreciation
of the opportunities their educa-
tion provides them. They will be
exploring the central idea through

education and schooling in differ-
ent places through research and
realistic narratives.
Causation -we will explore some
of the obstacles children world-
wide face regarding their educa-
tion and how that might affect
their opportunities in life.
Responsibility - This is a related
concept closely associated to the
central idea. We will investigate
people’s role as global citizens in
ensuring children’s right to educa-
tion as stated in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights.
As part of the unit we will be

and their educational systems.
