Introduction to MPLAB X
A short class about the main differences between MPLAB X and 8.XX versions.
Student will learn MPLAB X in deep while they run the demos in every class during MASTERs.
Home Automation
This class introduces students to a complete automation system. Ethernet, WI‐FI, MI‐WI and GSM
modules will be used to create an "Intelligent house". Students are led through several applications
like: power metering, lights and temperature control and home security to demonstrate the power
of this technologies working together.

Ethernet and WI‐Fi Solutions (ETH)
This class shows how to make a powerful web server with PIC32. Hardware encryption capabilities
will be applied to math GooglePower Meter specification.
will be applied to math GooglePower Meter specification
Also introduces 10/100 Mbits communication with ENC624J600 device. SPI and parallel mode will be
discussed. Several Labs including WI‐FI and SSL implementation will show the capabilities of PIC32
architecture.
dsPIC WorkShop (DSP)
p( )
This class covers the DSP oriented features of the dsPIC® architecture. Covered are the MAC, Barrel
Shifter, DSP specific instruction set, Multiply, Divide, Shift and Rotate instructions, Zero overhead
loop control, and dual memory access features. Both ASM30 and MPLAB C are used on labs.
MASTERs ARGENTINA 2011
Intelligent Power Supplies (PWR)
This class covers the design and implementation of a digital mode synchronous buck DC/DC
converter using the SMPS dsPIC DSC family. The SMPS PWM, ADC and analog comparator modules,
combined with the dsPIC p processor, enables the creation of power conversion circuits utilizing digital

control loops. This class discusses the SMPS peripherals and their use in an actual circuit, along with
their integration with the control loop software. Labs are used to demonstrate SMPS dsPIC
peripherals and control capabilities.
This class will teach students how to harness the power of Microchip’s Graphics Library to decrease
the development time of sophisticated human interfaces using graphical LCD display technologies
with various input devices. Although the class will be taught using a PIC24, the concepts directly
apply to the PIC32 as well.
GSM/GPS Applications
This class introduces attendees to a complete GSM/GPS solution using advanced 8 bit PIC
microcontrollers Attendees are led through several exercises using the MCE TrackMe (GPS) board to
microcontrollers. Attendees are led through several exercises using the MCE TrackMe (GPS) board to
demonstrate how to decode the NMEA GPS protocol and present information such as position,
speed, acceleration and temperature in Google Maps. Practical schematics including Microchip
battery charger circuits and LDO voltage regulators are also discussed to produce a complete, ready
to go product.
Robotics (RBT)
Students will learn how to make a line and color follower robot from scratch. The main board is
controlled by a PIC18LF4620 and interact with optical encoders, motor drivers, color detector,
ultrasonic sensor and USB interface. Students will be able to control the robot from a cell phone with
Bluetooth enabled.
MASTERs ARGENTINA 2011
USB Applications (USB)
This class introduces students to a native USB solution with PIC18. Attendees are led through several
exercises to demonstrate the differences between HID, CDC and custom classes. Also PC side
implementation in LabView(TM) will be teach to get a complete implementation.
mTouch (MTH)
This class will give an introduction to the theory behind touch sensing, and it will showcase the

methods Microchip provides for its mTouch capacitive touch sensing. Demos and tools will be
presented to highlight Microchip's key touch sensing methods including CSM, CTMU, and a newer
method, CVD. Techniques to increase robustness and touch through metal technology will also be
explained.
Motor Control with dsPIC (MTR)
This class presents an in depth analysis of Microchip’s BLDC and Stepper Motor Control algorithms.
The class also provides an overview of the dsPIC’s motor control peripherals. We will use the DMCI
to modify algorithms and control the motor. Sensored, Sensorless, and Field Oriented Control are all
y g , ,
covered.
