Family entrepreneur- It may be defined in terms of-

• Ownership control by family member.

• Strategic influence of a family in management of firm.

• Concern for family relationship.

• The dream of continuity across generation.

Professionalism vs. Family entrepreneurs’-

1. Degree of open mindedness- professional are open minded,

receptive of new ideas, ready to experiments. While family
entrepreneurs’ generally lack this.

2. New Practices- quality certifications, Participative management,

change in work style and financing pattern. Professional is adopting all
theses thing while there is a lack of this attitude in family
entrepreneurs.

3. Impartial HRM- Professional do not any partially towards any

particular gender. But family business houses employ their relatives or
friends or people belonging to the same social caste in responsible
positions.

4. Organizational Oriented Financial Management- professional

tend to make financial decision in the way which is best for
organization. But family entrepreneurs give the first priority to the
familiar concern and interest.
5. Decision making style- in professional run organization tend to be
qualitative better and vision to be broader. It is mostly participative.
While in family run business in more autocratic in nature.
