Velocity of Flowing Water

Goals:
To know the difference of the water speed that comes out from the bottles in three
different ways and find out which one is the most rapid way to remove water from
the bottle.

Equipments and materials:

- glass bottles(3)
- Chopsticks
- Water

Theory
Flow characteristics

Laminar flow is a flow of fluid moving with laminas condition make flow lines
which do not intersect each other. This flow have a Reynold number smaller than
2300

Example :

Turbulent Flow is a fluid flow the particles move randomly and are
not stable with fluctuating velocity of mutual interaction. As a result of this inter-
particle fluid flow lines intersect. Turbulent flow is characterized by circle small-
circle and resembles a vortex and is often referred to as eddys number. Another
example of turbulent flow is a whirlpool. Turbulent flow has a Reynolds
Number greater than 4000.

Example :
Reynolds' number
Streams that have a Reynolds number between 2300 - 4000 there is mentionas
a stream in a state of transition. The change from laminar to turbulent
flowconditions.

Reynolds Number is a number which is used as the parameters whether afluid in

a state of laminar, turbulent or transition well between the two. Numbername was
taken from the name
of a scientist named Osborne Reynolds. Hefound things that flow in a low
speed in a state of laminar flow. When thespeed is higher then the flow will
experience a transition, so that eventuallywould become turbulent flow.

Issues

There is a bottle containing water and if we want

to remove all water from the bottle
quickly then we can reverse these bottles of 1800. If there are 3 bottles of the same
size, and remove the water from the bottle in 3 different ways, namely:
A. Turning the bottle slowly - the land until 1800
B. Insert a chopstick into the mouth of the bottle, then held it by hand,do not get
into the bottle entirely and turn over the bottle until 1800
C. Rotate the bottle so that the water in the bottle is also rotating, then turning the
bottle up to 1800
Which is the fastest way out of the water in the bottle?
Solution of Problem :
- the first bottle by laminar flow is fluid flow that moves with the condition of the
layers(lanima-lamina) formed flow lines, do not
intersect each other. This is shown by the experiment
of Osborne Reynolds. At low flow rates, laminar flow is reflected as a long
filament that runs along the stream. This flow has
a Reynolds' number smaller than 2300.Streams that have a Reynolds'
number between 2300 - 4000 which is mentioned as a stream in a state
of transition. The change from laminar to turbulent flow conditions.

the second bottle cause pressure for the chopstick and outside air result the water
longest out of the bottle

- in bottles into 3 uses turbulent flow is the flow

of fluid particles move randomly and are
not stable with fluctuating velocity of mutual interaction. As a result of this inter-
particle fluid flow lines intersect. By Osborne Reynolds portrayed as an
unstable form which is mixed in the next time fast break and becomes
unseen. Turbulent flow has a Reynolds' Number greater than 4000. So
because its Reynolds' number is smaller than the third bottle result the third bottle
faster than from the first bottle.
