Microsoft is committed to delivering the most innovative solutions to customers around the world. Microsoft’s
primary focus is giving its customers a solution that addresses their needs and exceeds their expectations.
It's an exciting experience helping people discover the right technology to make their lives easier, richer, and more

An internship in Microsoft IDC will give an intern an opportunity to interact & work along with Microsoft’s product
groups which in return will provide an extraordinary hands-on learning opportunity for an intern.

Great people with great values – something which is rare! Values create an ecosystem which can withstand the
toughest tide coming its way and ensure endurance through trying and reassuring times. Values are brought in and
instilled by the people of an organization. Microsoft looks for people, who are accountable, are willing to take on
big challenges, people who are passionate, open & respectful, self-critical and people with integrity & honesty.
Extraordinary hands-on learning opportunity in the company of great people with great values - a rarity which is in
abundance in Microsoft, thrives to provide a great internship experience to an intern.

Internship Process Flow:

Microsoft India typically hires interns from top Tech Schools of India. Students come in for internship during
summers (Apr-Jun).

Summer internship starts from April and end in first week of June.

An intern is allocated to a specific group to pursue his/her internship project. Every intern is assigned to a mentor
who shares the project details; monitor’s the intern’s day to day activities and is also responsible to guide the
intern during the internship period.

The following phases are involved during the course of an internship:-

a. Objective Setting
b. Mid-term Review
c. Final Appraisal

1. Objective Setting:

Objective setting is done in the first week of internship. Objective setting will be done by the mentor and it will
clearly define the detailed execution plan and the accountabilities for project execution.
The intern has to be briefed about the project and its deliverables.
2. Mid-term Review:

Mid-term review takes place during the intermediate phase of the internship. This will be during the 4 week
TH

considering the fact that an intern will come in for a two months internship.

This is the first official documentation of the intern’s performance. The mid-term review document is filled in by
both the intern and the mentor. The intern has to list down all the objectives assigned and summarize his/her
performance against each objective. Intern has to comment on his/her strengths, areas of improvement and
suggest resources for addressing the improvement areas.

Mentor has to indicate the intern’s performance on the form. Mentor has to summarize the intern’s performance
against each assigned objective, assess the intern on Microsoft’s company values, define and prioritize intern’s
strength and areas of improvement.

3. Final Appraisal:

The final appraisal takes place in the last week of internship. Intern has to list down his/her assigned objectives in
the order of priority and summarize the performance against each objective.

Mentor will summarize the performance against each objective and will indicate if the intern met/ did not meet or
exceeded his/her objective. Mentor will assess the intern on Microsoft’s company values, performance on
assigned objectives and will indicate if the intern has been recommended for a PPI (Pre Placement Interview).

Internship Program Components:

a. Intern Feedback
b. PPI (Pre Placement Interview)
c. PPO (Pre Placement Offer)

Intern Feedback:

Intern feedback form will be provided by CRT to be filled in by the intern during the last week of his/her internship.
Intern will describe the internship experience with Microsoft IDC in the form which in turn will give us an outlook on
the internship program effectiveness and overall intern experience.
PPI (Pre Placement Interview):

Pre Placement Interview (PPI) is recommended by the mentor for the intern after the completion of the final
appraisal. PPI is recommended when the internship objectives assigned have been met by the intern in accordance
to Microsoft’s company values.
.

PPO (Pre Placement Offer):

Pre Placement Offer (PPO) is extended to an intern if he/she clears the PPI’s. PPO’s shall be extended to the
‘Placement Office’ of the respective intern’s institute. Offer letters are issued within 4-6 weeks post PPO
