Grupo LALA (www.lala.com.mx) started up in 1950
in Mexico. Today it has 8 pasteurization locations
and the biggest refrigerated product distribution
network in the country. With over 3,500 routes and
128 distribution centers, LALA visits over 200,000
customers every day, selling over 4 million lites of
milk and thousands of tons of diverse dairy products.
It has annual sales of about 2 billion dollars and is
one of the biggest milk producers in the country and
in Latin America, employing 23,000 people and
operating in Mexico, the United States and
Switzerland.

manufacturing plants, 180 product lines and 140

Grupo LALA has chosen Grupo ASSA as its technology partner for one of its most important projects: to transform its
supply chain processes through SAP technology. This consulting and technology project was one of the market’s most
important and complex ones carried out in 2006.

The choice
Since 2002, Grupo ASSA has accompanied Grupo LALA in process improvement projects and JD Edwards (now Oracle)
implementation for their warehouse and costs departments. This allowed Grupo ASSA to display its full potential and
become one of Grupo LALA's technology partners.
The selection process was complex and the competition came from the global consulting firms in the market.
Finally the client included Grupo ASSA in a group of three top consulting firms, because of its knowledge of the industry,
its process-oriented vision and its technological expertise with the latest available SAP tools and platforms.
In his official report after the assessment, Mauricio Castillo, Grupo LALA’s IT manager, pointed out that Grupo ASSA was
chosen as one of the technology partners for this project “because it got the highest score in terms of execution and
focus." Castillo also highlighted the quality and commitment shown by Grupo ASSA to integrate and adapt its methodology
and execution in benefit of the project. This IT transformation challenge involved a very important deployment of
resources, a very aggressive project plan, and an unprecedented level of execution both for SAP and Grupo LALA itself.
“This major challenge embarked upon by Grupo LALA, combining processes, people and technology, requires us to
develop skills to optimize the supply chain and empower execution in order to achieve growth”, stated Castillo. In order
to do this, Grupo LALA focused on gaining the agility, the adaptability, the alignment and the action required by the
company's competitive environment.

In addition, Grupo ASSA participated in the planning and optimization cycle for both Supply Chain, and Payroll and Human
Resources, carried out by other consulting firms.
The project included the design of all the new business processes for these cycles and the implementation of SAP solution
to support each one using the new components of mySAP Business Suite and SAP NetWeaver.
It was a project with a very high market impact, and for SAP it was one of the main year's main projects.
