The Multicultural Community Service (MCS) is a non-profit organization that encourages, promotes and facilitates broad and
inclusive civic participation. Founded in 1997, MCS’s key programs include Language Services and Parental Involvement.
Community Interpreter Training Fees
Cost

The cost per student for the Community Interpreter Training is $1,500 (in addition to the application fee).
This cost includes MCS’s language proficiency test.

YOU MUST BE PROFICIENT IN ENGLISH

Language Proficiency test: a requirement:


All participants have the option to take either the certified language proficiency test from Language Testing International
(LTI) for an additional cost payable directly to LTI. More information about this will be provided once MCS receives
your application. Or, MCS language proficiency test, the cost of this test is included in the application fee.

Scholarships

OLA Scholarship:

In partnership with the D.C. Office of Latino Affairs (OLA), MCS is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships
that cover 100% of the training cost to D.C. residents who are bilingual in Spanish. In order to apply for an OLA
Scholarship, you must:

1. Provide proof of D.C. residency (utility bill, driver’s license, or non-government ID)
2. Provide a copy of your most recent tax return
3. Pass the MCS or LTI Spanish language proficiency test (see test information above)
4. Complete 20 hours of volunteer interpretation services for OLA

To apply for the OLA scholarship, please send a copy of your proof of D.C. residency and tax return by May 6, 2011 to

 May 2l, 2011 to May 11, 2011 – 75% refund
 May 12, 2011 to May 23, 2011 – 50% refund
 After May 24, 2011 – No Refunds
