CHAPTER 1
PREFACE

1.1. BACKGROUND
Facing the world that has been developing technologies rapidly, engineers must have
good attitudes such as professionalism to work effectively and make a good decision
for solving problems in the best way. In purpose to be a good engineer, especially
petroleum engineer, undergraduate students need those attitudes in order to get
ready to work in the real industry which are have several problems to be solved.

Beside, undergraduate students should improve their skills and abilities they have got
at school. Some other important things, they have to understand about social, culture
environment, and lifestyle of professional workers. By join job-training, undergraduate
student can get a chance to learn those things deeper. In addition, they can also
observe, compare and applied theories that they have learned, because sometimes
things that we have got at school are not exactly the same with the real fact we will
find in the field. They also can help the company to solve some problems. In other
hand, for company, job-training could be a good event to evaluate the quality of
undergraduate student and search for new human resources.

For those reasons, I really want to apply a job-training to PT Chevron Pacific Indonesia,
and I hope your company will accept my proposal. I am confident that my knowledge
could be applied in this company. And in this company, I am sure that I can learn and
be ready to make a good attitude to be a good petroleum engineering.

1.2. PURPOSES
The objective of a job-training is :
1. To know and understand the competence of Bachelor of Petroleum Undergraduate
industry needed.
2. To get an experience and get more knowledge about procceses that happen in
petroleum industry.
3. To understand and get use to the working environment.
4. To get a chance to observe, compare, and applied theories from school in the real
condition in petroleum industry.
5. To fullfil a requirement to graduate from Petroleum Engineering Department or
University.

CHAPTER 2
ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION

To make sure that my activity is suitable with the program that the company has planned, it
is necessary to explain some important thing which comes from my idea. I expect to get
more information from the company.

2.1. PLACE OF JOB TRAINING


The job-training will be held in PT Chevron Indonesia field.

2.2. TIME OF JOB TRAINING


I apply for the job-training program that will be held from June to July 2010.
And for the company consideration, I enclose my schedule in this second semester of
2009-2010.
25th February until 21st May 2010 : Regular Lecture time
22nd May until 15th August 2010 : Holiday time (allocation for job-training program).

2.3. CONTENT
The content of the job-training program is decided by PT Chevron Indonesia and
Lecturer from Petroleum Engineering Department of ITB. The content of job-training
program is better if it is related to Petroleum Engineering practice, such as :
1. Production Engineering
2. Reservoir Engineering, and
3. Drilling Engineering.

Specifically, I prefer to join the part which is related to drilling or reservoir engineering.
But if that is not possible, I would like to join with well services or completion division.

I would like to know the system and procedure in the real Petroleum Industry, starts
from collecting data producing, analyzing it, and taking some pictures if necessary. The
guidance of engineer will be very helpful for me to get a better understanding about
this industry. Also, it is possible if Oil Company would give other knowledge as long as
it’s related to Petroleum Engineering application.

I realize that PT Chevron Indonesia is one of successful oil companies in Exploration


and Production in Indonesia, handled matters as mentioned above. So I intend to apply
a job-training program in this company, because I believe that in this company, I could
get more knowledge and gain great experiences to improve my personal skill as well as
my social communication.

2.4. METHOD
The learning method that I would like to have in this practical-training is learning and
observating cases that occurred in the field, or running any petroleum software in
office, guided by the experts in PT Chevron Indonesia.

2.5. TIME SCHEDULE


The plan of activities during job training program for about one months is described as
follow:

CHAPTER III
CLOSING

I hope I can join your company in this Job Training Program, so I could get experience of how
petroleum engineering handles his problem in the field. I am really hoping for your support
to help me accomplish my job-training with the best result. Some supports I’m hoping for
this job-training are:
1. Guidance along the job-training.
2. Facilitation to do observation and to take the necessary data which are needed.
3. Facilitation in moving from one place to another and a place to stay.

I arrange this proposal to complete all documents for practical-training in PT Chevron Pacific
Indonesia. End of words, I thank you for all your help and consideration.
