                             Idea&on  of  product  concepts  and  Business  plans  for  several  
organiza&ons:  Addi<onally  I   have   been   a   graduate   student   in   a  Master’s  
Program   in   Risk   Management     at   the   Robinson   College   of   Business,

technologies   for   property   inspec<ons.     Business   plans   included   a  
proposed  domes<c  Texas  homeowner  insurer  crea<on.

Turn  Around  of  Results,  Large  Scale  Opera&ons,  and  Insurer  Crea&on:
Boston:   Direct   PL   auto   opera/ons.   Results   of   the   personal   auto   book  
($580   Million)   were   the   main   focus   in   2001-­‐2002.   The   loss   ra/o   improved  
in   2002   by   7.3   points   to   65.9%   and   set   the   stage   for   even   more  
improvement  in  2003  to  57.2%  for  countrywide  auto.  I  was  part  of  a  team  
of  five  that  created  AutoOne.  

Buffalo:  Head  NY  PL    ($315  Million,  Auto  &  Home/Pkg).  In  2003  improved  
NYPL  LR  to  61.5  %  and  a  combined  of  99.8  %  (a  12  point  improvement).In  
2004  achieved  a  CAY  combined  of  93.1  %  and  88.1  %  in  2005.  Significant  
improvement  of  the  PL  results  was  generated  by  major  reunderwri/ng  
efforts  on  auto  and  homeowners.  This  included  underwri/ng  windstorm  
individual  exposures  to  average  annual  loss  data  on  Long  Island.  Managed  
directly  120  underwri/ng,  marke/ng  &  support  personnel  with  indirect  
responsibility  for  100  claims  personnel.    My  management  role  also  
included  that  of  principal  driver  in  crea/on  of  Adirondack  Insurance  
Exchange,  AIE  and  ini/al  President  of  its  Management  Co.  Proposals  to  
incept  AIE  involved  considerable  work  with  NY  Insurance  Department  
including  windstorm  exposure  management  nego/a/ons  rela/ve  to  the  
transfer  of  OneBeacon  policies  to  AIE.  Adirondack  Insurance  Exchange  
was  the  first  all  lines  domes/c  reciprocal  approved  in  NY.  

Aus<n:  Texas  Regional  Manager  for  OneBeacon’s  PL  Expansion  opera/ons  


and  led  a  team  that  appointed  60  agents  with  over  300  loca/ons  in  the  
first  year.  Secured  approval  of  the  first  Personal  Package  policy  approved  
by  TDI.  Devised  coastal  underwri/ng  guidelines  for  the  company.

Web  Entrepreneur/Agent  eCommerce  (1999-­‐2001)

mail   interac/on;   targe/ng   Northeast   Metro   Atlanta.   Developed   industry

Total  Results  Responsibility,  Turn  Around  of  Results:                                                      
CEO   of   a   12-­‐year-­‐old   B++   rated   small   Property   and   Casualty   Company.  
Major   improvements   were   made   to   catastrophe   exposure   (wind/quake),  
as   well   as   the   overly   exposed   profile   to   high   auto   liability   limits.   Major  
changes   in   the   strategic   direc/on   of   the   company   were   accomplished  
including   pricing   improvements.   The   book   of   business   was   par/cularly  
improved  on  the  property  lines  by  company  ac/ons  ini/ated  in  FL  and  LA.  
We   achieved   a   modest   profit,   the   first   in   several   years.   Introduced

company   to   its   12   state   (SC);   completed   system   conversion   for   2000  
compliance;   and   maintained   stable   premium   volume   during   a   12   month  
due   diligence   by   the   purchasers   which   resulted   in   a   successful   sale   in  
1998.  As  CEO,  I  made  all  catastrophe  treaty  and  quota  share  reinsurance  
purchases.

This   posi/on   was   responsible   for   profit   or   loss   on   $   187   million   book   of  
business   wrigen   in   five   Midwest   states   and   merged   CIC   and   CNA   PL  
products.   Direct   reports   of   117   people   performing   all   claims   (in   take   to  
resolu/on),   sales,   marke/ng   and   support   func/ons   severing   over   700  
agents

As   Commercial   Lines   Branch   Manager,   I   directed   new   business   acquisi/on  
from  40  Agency  and  Broker  en//es  in  North  Carolina.  Special  recogni/on  
was   received   for   assistance   to   the   Healthcare   Division   in   the   wri/ng   of  
Charloge  Mecklenburg  Hospital  Authority  Professional  Liability  coverage.  
I  also  developed  program  for  plas/c  roll  cart  manufacturers.

This   was   posi/on   of   Profit   or   Loss   on   $115   M   in   PL   premium.     ROR   for  
1991   was   22%   or   aher   tax   income   of   $7.9   M.   The   aher   tax   income   for  
policy   years   1992   and   1993   was   $3.8   M   and   $5.0   M   respec/vely.   Our  
business   was   wrigen   through   350   Independent   Agents   and   Brokers.   In  
this  posi/on  I  also  developed  the  underwri/ng  requirements  for  the  Link  
+   package   policy   to   be   approved   by   the   NC   Rate   Bureau’s   Property  
Commigee   and   the   State   of   NC.   This   posi/on   was   expanded   in   1992   to  
include   $40   million   in   small   commercial   accounts,   primarily   BOP   type  
accounts   with   the   heaviest   volume   in   FL.   PL   Officer   in   charge   of   SC   during  
Hugo  and  FL  during  Andrew.  Developed  training  video  post  Hugo  (26,000  
claims)   and   improved   HO   coverage   A   values   by   an   average   of   175,000  
recognizing   need   for   ITV   in   Charleston   in   par/cular.   Hurricane   Andrew  
was  virtually  a  non  event  for  CIC  PL  due  to  mi/ga/on  efforts.
