    In Bolivia more rural people live below the poverty line than in any other country in the world. Five hundred years after the arrival of the Spanish conquistadores, the country's rich natural resources are still controlled and exploited by a privileged minority, while the indigenous majority struggle to subsist on the poorest soils, or migrate to swell the teeming cities. Strangers in their own land for centuries, the indigenous people of Bolivia are now claiming the right to be heard and to be included in the national political process.
