Worship Team Covenant

1 Chronicles 15:16
“David told the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers to sing joyful songs,
accompanied by musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals.”

The Levites were the priestly tribe. Responsible for consecrating themselves before the
Lord in order to minister to the people and carry out the duties of the temple. Not only
were the priests Levites but we can see from scripture that those in charge of leading
and playing the worship to the Lord were Levites as well.

Today we who play worship are still responsible for ushering in the Holy Spirit through
music and we must hold ourselves to a higher standard just as those from the Tribe of
Levi. As we are seen weekly, though we may not be in a position of authority or hold
the title of a leader, we still hold a position of high influence and are still responsible for
setting an example to others.

For this purpose we have set forth some practical and biblical standards that we need
all adhere to.

Practical:
• Attendance of AIA
• Wednesday at 8:00
• Attendance of Bible study
• Thursday 8:30 for men at the ARC Starbucks
• Thursday 8:00 for women at Nicole’s
• Accountability Partner
• Mens group and women’s group
• Attendance of Practice
• 8:30pm-9:45 on Mondays
• 7pm on Wednesdays
• Class conflicts let us know
• Punctuality
• You can leave on time if you arrive on time.

Obviously if something comes up and for some reason you can not make any of these
events you must let one of the worship leaders know within 48 hours. Tori or Benny.

Higher Standard:
In all things we must adhere 1 Timothy 3:7 He must have a good reputation with
outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil’s trap.
• Sex
• 1 Corinthians 6:18 Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are
outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
• Drinking
• Ephesians 5:18 Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery, instead be
filled with the spirit.
Worship Team Covenant

• Partying
• 1 Thessalonians 5:22 Abstain from all appearance of evil.
• Although they know God's righteous decree that those who do such things deserve
death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those
who practice them.
• Cursing
• James 3:10 Out of the same mouth come praising and cursing. My Brothers, this
should not be.
• Gossip
• Psalm 23:25 As sure as the north wind brings rain, so a gossiping tongue causes
anger.

In the Bible, leaders are held to a higher standard of character and faith (James 3:1)
than others. However, leaders, like everyone, can fall short and God’s grace is
sufficient to cover all of their sins and to bring restoration and healing. IN the Bible, we
see that leaders are not perfect people. David is a great example. David responded in
humility to his sins and came to God in confession and repentance.
Likewise, if any member of the Worship Team falls short in these important areas of
commitments, we expect them to be open and honest about their struggle and to
immediately pursue confession and repentance in their relationship with God. The team
should be informed about these struggles so that we can pray for you, keep you
accountable and help you find consistent victory. In some cases, violations of these
character and faith commitments may lead to removal from the AIA Worship Team.

Personal Commitment
I commit to following these character and faith standards as requirements for spiritual
leadership in Athletes in Action at UC Davis. I also commit to honestly and quickly
taking the appropriate steps outlined above if I violate any of these standards.
