Self-Discovery and Goal-Setting Tool

Your Name

If you're not following your heart, you're living someone else's dream.
Lyn Christian

Why is it important to do self-reflection and goal-setting?

- I will be self aware is a crucial element of turning vision into action!
- It helps me to evolve as a person!
- Allows me to know myself better!
- Build the bridge to my future!

Put your picture here!

Introduction to Myself

When you consider part of your personal vision and something says “that’s not really me” most likely it is not in line
with your personal values. These values are so fundamentally part of us that we can not easily see them. As a
result we rarely talk about them or defy them if we are truly living by them.
However, to make sure that you are clear on who you are, where you want to go and if you are therefore in the right
organization, it is imperative to be extremely clear on what your personal values are.

What brings you happiness?

What are the things that you really enjoy doing? Personally and professionally.

When was the last time that you really enjoyed a task you were responsible for?

What are the thing you think you are really good at, like things that excel you from the
others? List those aspects about yourself (skills, behaviors) and your personality which you
see as strengths.

What are the things that you want to be recognized to be good at someday?

What do you value most?

Now that you have identified these, breath and try to make 5 sentences that really represent your personal
values for your life.

How would your life be different if you lived those values in everything you did?

Stop for a glass of water, take a look at your window.

Do you want to get to know yourself better? These are some free personality tests we separated for you:
1. MBTi Test
Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) is a personality test designed to assist a person in identifying some
significant personal preferences.
The Indicator is frequently used in the areas of pedagogy, group dynamics, employee training, leadership
training, marriage counseling, and personal development.

2. Belbin Test
It is a self perception inventory, similar to MBTi but gives other kind of view. Most used in
AIESEC nationally.

3. Drivers Test
Negative restrictive messages we receive from our parents – or other early authority
Figures - may generate within us forms of equally restrictive behaviour called ‘DRIVERS’.
Drivers contain socially acceptable moral judgements and value statements that parents
would be willing to tell their friends and relatives about – i.e. superficially, driver behaviour
LOOKS good.
The ‘Driver Profile’ will indicate the prevailing drivers and show where too much or too
little emotional energy is being used. This information is helpful in guiding people to ‘give
themselves permissions’ and take more charge over their lives.
More detailed definition of drivers of this document - pages 68-90.
Where am I going?

Do I have a clear direction for my life? Am I in the right path to reach my goals, my final aspirations?

The Road Not Taken – Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And both that morning equally lay
And sorry I could not travel both In leaves no step had trodden black.
And be one traveller, long I stood Oh, I marked the first for another day!
And looked down one as far as I could Yet knowing how way leads on to way
To where it bent in the undergrowth; I doubted if I should ever come back.

Then took the other, as just as fair, I shall be telling this with a sigh
And having perhaps the better claim Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Because it was grassy and wanted wear, Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,
Though as for that the passing there I took the one less travelled by,
Had worn them really about the same, And that has made all the difference

Think your life as a circle, divided in portions, as you can see below. What are the things that you passed most
of the time of your year doing?

Analyze your life circle: what were the results that most impacted you (because demands too much time of your
life, or because you don’t pay attention as much as you want to this part of your life):
Do you have a mission? Consider as your mission the impact that you want to make somehow during your
lifetime. You may not be working on that right now, but to define what truly inspires you to go forward will give
you clarity and peace of mind.

Gandhis Mission
Mahatma Gandhi's mission is captured in a short list of active statements.
Let the first act of every morning be to make the following resolve for the day.
I shall not fear anyone on earth.
I shall fear only God.
I shall not bear ill toward anyone.
I shall conquer untruth by truth.
And in resisting untruth I shall put up with suffering.

Some other examples

At the end of my life, I want to be able to say I gave everything I have to give.
I will pursue momments of joy and passion, living each day fully and freely, always seeking exciting new experiences and
conquering my fears.
To live each day in gratitude, for true gratitude will guard agains selfishness, envy, self-pity, and pride.
To make a difference.
I will explore my every gift and talent, never wasting my potential to bring goodness, beauty, laughter, and light to my life and
the world around me.

Now take a breath, think a little, and write down which is (are) the issue (s) you care deeply about and wants to
impact in your future:

Go for a quick walk.

Correcting the route!

Now it’s time to plan!

First define: how far do you want to go? Do you want to define lifetime goals? Are you looking for planning your next 20, 15, 10, 5
years?
This document will help you in all these possibilities. Now it’s time to define your long-term goals (remember that it’s up to you to
define the most appropriate timeframe). The long term goals in organizational plans and in personal ones are from minimum 5
years.
Think again about how your life circle looks like right now. To give a broad, balanced coverage of all important areas in your life,
try to set goals in some these categories:

Life circle Goals Priority

Career

Money

Health

Intellectual development

Spirituality/Philosophy

Fun/leisure time

Friendships

Family

Love

Now you can define your short term goals! Your short term goals should be utilised in order to achieve your long term goals. They are a smaller task to
be achieved which you can tick off along the way to the bigger picture. Set SMART goals!
Take into consideration al the perspectives of your life, plan considering all perspectives. Equilibrium is one key word here.
