CAREER SUMMARY
Technology focused peak performer combines MSEE degree with 15+ years of innovation in digital imaging
and wireless communications systems design. Delivered solutions for medical diagnosis, covert surveillance
(ISR), and the “worlds first” digital color infrared camera for remote sensing. Exceptional analytical problem
solving resulted in the invention of three new wireless protocols: TDMA for multimedia, an efficient battle-
hardened mesh network, and a significant part of the IEEE 802.15.3 standard. Established expertise in
modeling (MATLAB and OPNET). Expertise in embedded firmware, DSP, and mixed signal hardware design.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
CARESTREAM HEALTH – Rochester, New York (June) 2010–(August) 2010
Manufacturer of medical and industrial X-Ray imaging systems including Digital Radiography, with annual
sales of 2.5 B.
Senior Electrical Engineer – Carestream Health
Invented and applied technology vital for introduction next generation Digital Radiographic imaging
product. Engineered precise spatial positioning and alignment system, incorporating near field magnetic
induction principles. Researched and analyzed best scanning technique, optimized sense coils for
sensitivity and minimal size, and designed signal conditioning hardware for implementing the design.
Managed on-time and on-budget pilot build out of next generation radios by leading cross-
functional team of in-house and third-party resources through design changes, procurement,
fabrication, production, board testing, interface development, and unit testing.
Designed company’s first quantitative GPS performance test with statistical analysis for advanced
development of next-generation tactical radios; then adapted this to standard product production testing.
Designed a dual-transmitter RF propagation tool for advanced jammer design, that computed power or
max standoff distance for a choice of received signal characteristics
Generated universal trade study tool and then created a trade study for DSP and ARM processor
combinations usable in low cost radios. Analyzed: performance, cost, power, and software development
tools. Co-designed custom waveform for price sensitive international tactical radio.
Spearheaded design and integration of 2.4-GHz transceiver with Quadrature Phase-Shift Keying
(QPSK) and 16/32/64 Quadrature Amplitude Modulation (QAM) into unified RF hardware solution.
Demonstrated video streaming with surround sound capabilities at the Consumer Electronics Show.
Simulated optimized preamble detector and equalizer in MATLAB as part of mixed signal DSP.
Author and Major Technical Contributor to IEEE 802.15.3 PAN Standards Committee: (TDMA
protocol, Device Synchronous Power Save, Application Specific Information Element)
Created digital signal processing (DSP) design to enable complementary use of Appairent and 802.11
a/b/g systems without RF interference (coexistence).
Bottom Line: The result was consistent fulfillment of multimillion dollar fixed price goverment contracts
for custom form factor and highly miniaturized ISR imaging systems.
Created unique wireless MAC prototyping system based on an FPGA plus a TMS320C6x DSP and a PC
host. Was used to estimate protocol development resources needed by the new wireless venture,
Appairent Technologies. Implemented simple protocol for Kodak R&D transceiver to send data.
Responsible for implementing 802.11 based wireless prototype for automatic real time remote printing
of professional digital camera images. The demo secured funding from customers and stakeholders.
Invented (patent pending) an efficient wireless Mobile Ad Hoc Network (MANET) protocol and
innovated (patented) a TDMA network protocol for maximum bandwidth utilization and
Managed build of film imaging system allowing government customer to digitize entire film archive.
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE
