Protection from Dajjal in

Al Kahf

Ad Dajjal (The Anti Christ) is going to be the greatest test mankind has ever
witnessed. The trials he will bring will be the most difficult in the history of
the world. There will be killing, oppression
and injustice, worldwide lies and deception,
wide spread disease, famine, starvation,
homosexuality, illegal sexual acts and a new
world wide religion… not of the worship of
the one true God, but of Shaytan… the
devil and of the spirits that do his work.
Things in this time will be the opposite of the truth. Seeing will be believing
and the things you see will deceive you into following Ad Dajjal as a divine
being or as Allah (God) Himself.

Narrated by Imran ibn Husayn (radiAllahu anhu) that the Prophet

(salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said: Let him who hears of the Dajjal (Anti-
Christ) go far from him for I swear by Allah that a man will come to him
thinking he is a believer and follow him because of confused ideas roused in
him by him (the Anti Christ). [Sunan of Abu Dawud #4305]

Although this time and these trials seem as if they have no defense and are too
great for one to survive… there is a defense and a protection from all of this.

Abu al-Dardah (may Allah be pleased with him) related that the Prophet
of Allah (May Allah bless him and give him peace) said: “Whoever
commits to memory the first ten verses from the beginning Surat al-Kahf
will be protected from the Dajjal.” [Muslim, Abu Dawud]

Now, you can take this either one of two ways… literal as in; remember the
first ten verses of Suratul Kahf and Ad Dajjal cannot affect or harm you…
or, you can take it as a metaphor, as
in… understanding what Allah is
telling us in these first ten verses and
applying them to your life will
protect you from the trials of Ad
Dajjal. There is a difference of
opinion between Muslims and the majority believe that just memorizing is
enough, but doing both of these will almost guarantee protection from Ad
Dajjal… and Allah knows best.

We will now look at the first ten verses of Suratul Kahf in order to see where
the protection could possibly lay. The first ten verses of Suratul Kahf are as
follows:

1-All the praises and thanks are to Allâh, Who has sent down to His slave
(Muhammad) the Book (Qur'ân), and has not placed therein any
crookedness.
2-He has made it straight to give warning (to the disbelievers) of a severe
punishment from Him, and to give glad tidings to the believers, who do
righteous - deeds, that they shall have a fair reward (i.e. Paradise).

3-They shall abide therein forever.

4-And to warn those (Jews, Christians, and pagans) who say, "Allâh has
begotten a son (offspring or children)".

5-They have no knowledge of such a thing, nor had their fathers. Mighty is
the word that comes out of their mouths (Allah having offspring). They
utter nothing but a lie.

6-Perhaps, you would kill yourself in grief (O Muhammad SAW), over

their footsteps (for their turning away from you), because they believe not in
this narration (the Qur'ân).

7-Verily! We have made that which is on earth as an adornment for it, in

order that We may test them (mankind) as to which of them are best in
deeds.

8-And verily! We shall make all that is on it (the earth) a bare dry soil
(without any vegetation or trees).

9-Do you think that the people of the Cave and the Inscription (the news)
were a wonder among Our Signs?
10-(Remember) when the young men fled for refuge (from their
disbelieving folk) to the Cave, They said: "Our Lord! Bestow on us mercy
from Yourself, and facilitate for us our affair in the right way!"

So we know that in the first ten verses of Suratul Kahf, Allah is declaring
that there is none worthy of worship besides Him alone and that it was Allah
who sent the Qur’an to the Prophet Muhammad and the Prophet
Muhammad didn’t author the Qur’an himself. Allah says that He made
the Qur’an clear and free from error or
corruption. He promises a reward for those
who follow His commandments and warns
of punishments for those who disobey, both
of which last for eternity.

Allah then goes on to speak of those who claim that Allah has taken a son or
other offspring. Allah says that they have no proof of this and they only say
it because it’s what their fathers before them had said, which they blindly
follow. Both of which have no proof or
evidence, so it ends up just being a lie
spread down from generation to
generation. What child at birth decided to
be part of their parent’s faith, or to think
critically about what their parents teach them because their parents just
might be wrong? None! So we end up just believing whatever it is that the
ones closest to us are on. Allah tells the Prophet Muhammad not to kill
himself through grieving or worrying over them if they do not accept the
message. After all, not everyone is
receptive to truth if they were raised on
falsehood. They follow and defend what
they know and there’s no benefit in
stressing yourself over it because
ultimately it is Allah who guides people in
the first place. Our job is only to relay the
message.

In the seventh verse, Allah says that “We” meaning the angels that do
Allah’s bidding as well as Allah Himself, created the earth with pleasures as a
test for mankind to see which of us will ignore the lusts and desires of this life
and live a life of submissiveness to Allah and what He commands of us.
Allah says He will make the earth dry and barren in order to draw our
attention to the fact that the life of this
world will not last forever. So every desire
and pleasure is similar in the sense that
they also will die, lose their worth and
value and then eventually fade away. So
in reality it makes no sense living a life chasing material wealth and things
that will eventually crumble in your hands when the afterlife is better and
everlasting.

Finally, Allah speaks of a group of youths who left their town because of the
corruption and crookedness going on there and they fled away from their
town to a cave. Living in a cave was
more pleasing to them than dealing
with the foulness of their society. They
understood that being amongst corrupt
and evil people could eventually break
their faith down and corrupt them,
making them the same.

Could this be the protection from Ad Dajjal, this verse about the youths who
fled away from a corrupt society? They believed in the oneness of Allah, they
strove hard to live their lives in
accordance to what was commanded
of them and they realized that they
couldn’t live this way around people
who lived the complete opposite. The
Prophet Muhammad said that Ad
Dajjals influence will reach every part of
the earth, so it would make sense that
keeping away from the major cities
where the biggest number of people live,
would be the safer route to take in
protecting yourself from the Dajjalic
influence. Living a humble life close to
nature and the true creation of Allah is
more blessed than living in a modern city filled with wealth, materials,
popular trends, new ideas, music, movies and television which all put thoughts
and ideas in your head without your consent.

Memorize the first ten verses of Suratul Kahf. Recite them frequently,
remember what Allah is telling us in them and strive to live your life like the
youths of the cave. When the society became too corrupt, they fled away to
protect their religion from being corrupted. Many people may not agree
with my assessment of this Hadith, but I ask them… when you live amongst
a corrupt society, does Shaytan not
have many things to throw at you as
tests? If you remove yourself from
these potential tests then Shaytan
has less and less to use against you.
Being amongst these corrupted
people is really a gamble with your afterlife. You might be strong now, but
can you guarantee that you and your family will always be strong like this?
You cannot say that you will, so take the example of the youths and flee
before the evil becomes too much and you are overtaken by the Dajjalic
influence…
