INDUCTION PROGRAMS OF TWO
COMPANIES

SC Johnson
The induction process of SC Johnson involves 5 steps, as per their view they have
been carrying this orientation program to ensure the successful implementation of a
uniform procedure for introducing new employees and help our new employees
feel part of the organization by providing information and assistance at the time it’s
needed.

 The orientation program with various topics essential for the new
employees’ basic understanding of the SCJ works life. Key personnel
considered to be most familiar with the subject matter will conduct the
orientation.

 On the 1st working day, the new employee will accomplish the necessary
employment papers to be administered by a representative from the Human
Resources Department.

 The new employee will be briefed on the orientation program (this may be
conducted either in a training type situation or one to one). The orientation
should at least include the following:

Introduction to employees and tour of company facilities

Basic company policies

Training policy

Conflict of Interest; Competitors

This we Believe
MRPII

Communications Program

Benefits

Office Safety

Work Specifics / Departmental Structure / Working relationship with

other personnel

Office Procedures

Safety Procedures

 The new employee should finish the majority of both the induction and
orientation within the first two weeks of their employment.
 Feedback should be collected and passed to the human resources department.

Like this they have been able to welcome their new employees in an organization
and introduce to their organization.

In their orientation they are not only making employees aware about the company
policies but they are also taking into consideration the safety measures of
employees and helping them to feel secure in their organization.
Unilever limited
The second company taken by me for the induction process is Unilever limited.

Induction process of a Unilever limited is a 5 step process in which they make their
new employees familiar with their policies and rules and regulations of an
organization.

Getting started
Shortly after joining employee receive a presentation on the company's history,
brands and markets. This includes an overview of organizational structure and
strategy, and also introduces employees to their culture and how they work.

Building your network

Getting to know people and establishing close working relationships is important

to help employees settle in. During the first few months, employees meet
colleagues from your immediate area and from different functions across the
business.

Your buddy

Your buddy is a peer working in the same location. Their job is to help employees
to find their feet by showing them where everything is around the office and
answering any questions that employee may have about working life.
Personal development

Once employees are familiar with the company and the role, the next step is to
discuss and agree a personal development plan. This will identify a learning
requirements as well as the support their need to achieve their aims.

Your mentor

Employee mentor is a senior manager from another part of the business who will
be available to offer advice and guidance as employee move through his career.
They'll also help n employee to deal with any challenges that may arise.

Roles & goals

As part of development plan, employee will be given personal targets and team
goals and a time-frame within which to achieve them. Over regular meetings with
manager, we will evaluate employee’s progress and address any issues.

Like this Unilever is been able to introduce their organization to their employees
and motivating them to adapt themselves as per the norms of n organization.

Finally I would like to conclude by saying that both the aforesaid companies are
organizing very attractive orientations in order to win the heart of employees, but
Unilever is not mentioning about the safety of the employees and their orientation
process is very long, hence they should shorten their induction process in order to
get effective results.
