PROFESSIONAL CAREER:
IN PAKISTAN
Principal Consultant – Sigma Consult – Management Consultants
& also Director Operations –Gem System Design (Pvt.) Ltd. (Since
May 2007).
Providing Consultancy & Training services in the following areas:
o Human Resource Management
o Supply Chain Management
o Total Quality Management & Organisational Development

o Lately, ie since 2003, my involvement has been with a few select
Organisations developing sustainable Management systems for them
and training Executives, with special emphasis on Human Resource
Development & Supply Chain Management.

Corporate Head-Human Resources – Saigols Regent Group, Lahore.

Regent Group employed over 4,000 persons in 4 different companies at


various locations. Responsibilities included organizing and managing HR
1994 – 1996 policies and functions through Personnel Heads at various locations.
Developed and implemented comprehensive HR policies including:
Recruitment, Training, MBOs, Compensations/ Succession plans etc.
Additional responsibilities included over-seeing implementation of
Management (culture) Improvement Programs (ISO-9000, TQM etc.)

Divisional Head-Human Resources / Commercial – Crescent Textiles,


Faisalabad.

1992 – 1994 Crescent Textiles, a composite Unit had over 4,000 personnel; my
responsibilities as a Divisional Head involved over-seeing Human Resource
Division, Quality Management Systems /Compliances and all Commercial
aspects of the Company, including Supply Chain functions.

IN THE MIDDLE EAST

General Manager Middle East – John Deere.


John Deere, an International American Organization, had its regional office in
1981 – 1988 Brussels and a Territory Office in Kuwait. I was responsible for the overall
operations of the company in the ME region. Gained rich global exposure.

Administration and Planning Manager – Boodai Trading Company


Boodai, a reputed and large group of companies had its principal office in
Kuwait (branches in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Oman, UK, and Japan)
1978 – 1981 Had the opportunity to organize, set up and see to the successful execution
of Management Systems and Procedures, including Personnel (Recruitment,
Placement and Training).

IN PAKISTAN

Manager Purchase / Administration – ICI


1976 – 1978 Besides routine functions, developed a complete Materials Management
System Manual for the ICI Soda Ash Works at Khewra.

Manager Administration – General Motors (National Motors Ltd.)


Joined as Executive Administration. Was promoted to Manager Administration
and later relocated laterally as Manager Purchase & Logistics.
1973 – 1976
During my stay with this Organization, I was an active member of an
executive body, nominated to review and revise “the Code of Operations” for
the Organization.

Administrative Officer – BASF


Joined BASF Pakistan Limited as a Management Trainee. Was promoted to
1969 – 1973 Administrative Officer on confirmation. I joined at the time when the
organization was in its inception stage. Assisted the management in setting
up entire working systems and organizational procedures.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:
o MBA from the IBA, Karachi.
o Post Graduation (English Literature), from the University of Karachi.
o Graduation (English Literature, Economics and Statistics), from the
University of Karachi.
o Inter-Science (Pre-Engineering), from the Government College Lahore.
o Senior Cambridge (O-Level), from the Pakistan Air Force Cadet College,
Sargodha.
o In the junior classes, studied at Lawrence College, Ghora Galli and
Grammar School, Quetta.

P.S. Qualified the Central Superior Services Examination of Pakistan. Did


not accept the cadre offered.

PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION:

Attended / qualified various short terms courses in the disciplines of


Personnel Management, Finance, Marketing, Materials and Stock Control,
Operations Research, Change Management, Strategic Planning, TQM etc.

These specified courses were open mainly to Senior Managers sponsored by


their employers.
• Specialized in HR, TQM, Inventory / Supply Chain Management,
achieving all requisite credentials and qualifications.
• Developed, organized and conducted courses / seminars / workshops
for various industrial and commercial institutions especially on Human
Resource, Material Management, TQM etc.
• Over 6000 hours of consulting in these specialized areas.
• Re-engineered complete management systems for various
organizations in Pakistan and in the Middle East.
• Over 60 clients certified to various management systems.
• Have audited various prestigious organizations vis-à-vis Quality
