Leading Industry Expert:
Malcolm Leader
Malcolm E. Leader, P.E. is a Turbomachinery Consultant and Owner of Applied Machin-
ery Dynamics in Dickinson, Texas. He is currently involved in the design, testing, modi-
fication, and installation of rotating equipment. He spends time doing theoretical design
audits and working in the field implementing changes and overseeing installations. Mr.
Leader has written several papers on the subjects of experimental rotordynamics, bearing
design, design audits for rotating equipment, and practical implementation of rotordy-
namic programs.

Why You Should Attend

This course is for beginning and intermediate level engineers in the petro-
leum, chemical, power, and gas industries or anyone interested in the dynam-
ics of rotating machinery. The emphasis is on turbomachines such as tur-
bines, compressors, expanders, motors, pumps, and generators. The intent is
to understand the rotordynamics of these machines and their subcomponents
to help select, analyze, troubleshoot and repair them for maximum reliability
and minimum vibration problems. This is not a math intensive course. Case
histories and several workshops for hands-on evaluation of actual machines
will be given.
