RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Ohio General Assembly appropriated $166,668 GRF Line
Item CAP-030 and $333,332 Fund 030 Line Item CAP-029, for a total
appropriation of $500,000, in Am House Bill No 748 (121% General
Assembly) to the Ohio Arts & Sports Facilities Commission for the
Cincinnati Riverfront Museum Development Project; and
WHEREAS, the Ohio Revised Code Section 3383.07 requires a
contribution amounting to not less than one-third of the total estimated
cost of that Ohio museum facility, including any cost of the site of such
facility, from sources other than the State of Ohio to be used for costs of
construction of the facility, costs of management of the facility, or both;
and
WHEREAS, in accordance with R.C. 3383.04 (K) and (I), the Ohio Arts &
Sports Faclities Commission and the National Underground Railroad
Freedom Center entered into a GRF Agreement dated June 19,1998 for
the Freedom Center facility and pursuant to that agreement $90,000 of the
GRF appropriation was approved to cover costs associated with the
schematic design of the project;
WHEREAS, the City of Cincinnati has recommended and the National
Underground Railroad Freedom Center has requested the remaining
portion of the appropriation; and
WHEREAS, the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center desires.
to use the remaining portion of the GRF appropriation for planning
services related to the museum;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the National Underground
Railroad Freedom Center Board of Trustees hereby authorizes (through
its chairman or other designated officer) planning work to develop the site
location and architectural design for the museum; and
RESOLVED FURTHER , that the National Underground Railroad
Freedom Center Board of Trustees hereby authorizes (through its
chairman or other designated officer) requesting the grant by the Ohio Arts

for purposes of funding the work of development of the museum and
amending the GRF Agreement dated June 19, 1998; and
RESOLVED FURTHER, that the National Underground Railroad Freedom
Center Board of Trustees commits to secure contributions amounting to
not less than one-third of the total cost of the Freedom Center including
the cost of the site, from sources other than the State of Ohio; and
RESOLVED, that the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
Board of Trustees authorizes the National Underground Railroad Freedom
Center (through its chairman or other designated officer) to enter into and
execute such other and further documents which are in the best interest of
the Freedom Center in order to accomplish the foregoing purpose.
